[humour] [by AceBandage@11:39pmGMT] [+10 Good] Main link. Pretty new comic that's sort of all over the place, reminds me a bit of Three Word Phrase or maybe a low-rent Perry Bible Fellowship. http://www.ryan-a.com/ Ryan Andrews was the main link last time around, but you should go look again. He has a new five page comic called "Sarah and the Seed" that's really good. http://www.happletea.com/ Happle Tea is a comic I haven't seen mentioned around here. It's mainly focused on mythology and the art is pretty slick. http://ohumanstar.com/ O Human Star is a new comic that I've just come across, so there isn't a lot there yet, but it seems promising. It's about Androids? http://www.skindeepcomic.com/ Skin Deep... also about mythological creatures! But this one is a story-driven comic about the mixing of worlds. Slow to update but the story is good. http://limbero.org/littleleague/66 The Justice League as little kids. A bit on the cutesy side. Pretty much says it all. http://forlackofabettercomic.com/ Aaaaaaand frog. |

Schlock may very well be the bee's knees, but I just don't trust Mormons involved with sci-fi. I suspect that if I were to fall asleep reading it, I'd wake up to find myself writing a check to Joseph Smith. 10% of whatever Howard Tayler makes goes to his creepy cult, so I can't in good conscience support it. By the same token I don't see movies with prominent Scientologists unless their character dies. |

I have been watching closely with that in mind. Too clever and amusing, and I don't want to discriminate against his work if he continues to keep his religious influences within the reasonable realm of a mere part of the artist's inspirations. |

I've been wondering about that lately. Are Mormons just naturally good at writing sci-fi because their religion has conditioned them with fantastical ideas about space travel for years? |

Schlock Mercenary has been very good hard sci fi for a very long time. Subnormality is worth all the words. If you don't like Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal I don't think we can be friends. It lives! I'm happy to say that my post from last year kept me in Webcomics for a good long time. Whoever suggested Problem Sleuth has my undying gratitude and hatred because it lead directly into me reading all of Homestuck. Here's something I read this weekend: Crossed Webcomic. The original Crossed by Garth Ennis and the two sequels Crossed: Family Values and Crossed: Psychopath should be available in TPB or torrent. I believe Crossed: Badlands is still ongoing. It's not for the faint of heart, but there probably aren't any of those left on SE. I still recommend everything I recommended last year. Also apparently Gone with the Blastwave is still around. It's just over here now: Blastwave. The artist also has another strip which he hasn't updated in two years called TGSA. And as I posted in another thread recently Sexy Losers is being updated sporadically on tumblr under the old Thin H Line name. |

Dude. It's insanely difficult to get into. The first three chapters are so slow, but there is the promise of something amazing just ahead. Like out of no where music plays, and there are interactive flash segments... and then you get to know the Trolls and it's like WHAT IS THIS WORLD I'M LIVING IN? And it fucking sucks you in because there are so many call backs and the timing is incredible. But that only lasts as long as the archive lasts, which is very impressive he updates a shit ton. And then when you're caught up you are in the unenviable position of waiting for the next update. Which the longer it takes the better it is... the current break has been going on for exactly one month. The last time this happened when the break finished he posted Cascade and it crashed New Grounds and megaupload at the same time because of all the fans rushing to watch it. There are spoilers in there, but they go by so fast and you'll have no idea who anyone is that if you decide to read it and work all the way back to this point it'll be a complete surprise. |

It warms my heart to see all the love for Schlock Mercenary. I'm sad that Howard Taylor is planning an end - even if that end is another eight years out. This is good stuff. It looks like the great revival of Achewood has petered out, again. It had a good run, though. Digger and FreakAngels are complete, and worth a good read. Darths and Droids has finally caught up to the original trilogy. Surviving the World continues to amuse, even if it's not precisely a webcomic. Bad Machinery is missing the wacky lunacy of Scary Go Round, but it's still a fun and neat. Fanboys is fun to read. Manly Guys Doing Many Things revels in macho silliness. Additional love for the usuals - Gunnerkrigg Court, Girl Genius, OotS, Questionable Content, Dr. McNinja, Oglaf, SMBC, etc. |

And such an excessively guilty pleasure on my part that I can hardly bring myself to write this: Challenges of Zona. Not only an author-wish-fulfillment fantasy about women with swords and breasts bigger than watermelons, but it's made in friggin' poser for crissake! My progression of involvement went from: 1. A fantasy web-comic by somebody who can't even draw? I'll read a few pages before I go to sleep, just to see how lame it is. 2. I can't believe how awful this is. I wonder what happens next? 3(AM). Don't look at me! Don't look at me! You have no right to judge me! Actually, it's not half bad. And the romantic narrative (boy meets girl and they happen to hit it off from the start) seems more believable than the typical (boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl) story. |
