Satisfying story, but I'd like to know how the dude's bike got stolen in the first place. If I had a $2500 carbon-fiber bike you can be damned sure I'd never let it out of my sight. |

Considering how easy it is for car thieves to practice their craft, I'd imagine stealing a bike would be even easier. I've had two bikes stolen from my garage when I was a kid, all within view of the police department. |

While there are other crimes that are worse it always strikes me how obvious a character flaw it is to take someones personal possessions. |

There are people who steal out of genuine need and desperation. But otherwise thieves could certainly be considered sociopaths or even psychopaths (by definition, lacking empathy). Obviously they don't consider or care how their acts genuinely effect people's lives. |

Nah. If someone steals because they are a 'slightly bored asshole', I would firmly categorize them as a sociopath. |

They probably feel justified. Bike owner wasn't helping them with their poverty. If they asked nicely, people would call them a bum. Eventually, by that line of thought, people who have money deserve to get robbed. |
