quote [ he is best remembered as a courageous and celebrated saboteur who fought for the honor of France in World War II as a secret agent with the British.
His exploits were legend, involving an eclectic and decidedly resourceful collection of tools in the service of sabotage and escape, including loaves of bread, a stolen limousine, the leg of a table, a bicycle and a nun’s habit, ] What a guy.

That man exemplifies the true meaning of the words "hard core". He lived more in those years as an SOE officer than 95% off men will ever live. What a life. It is too bad that these great men are leaving us, but that is life. |

There was another French freedom fighter who died earlier this year and she was hardcore as fuck, but I'm having trouble remembering her name. There's a great story about her where she was being interviewed about one of her missions where her partner got caught by a Nazi guard. The interviewer breathlessly asked what she did and the woman just silently drew her finger across her throat. |

Last time I was back in Canada I picked up a book called "Churchill's Spy" or something like that (I must have lent it out; I can't seem to find it). It was a first-person account of a guy just like this who did couriering, resistance coordinating and sabotage in occupied Europe. Amazing stuff. These guys had balls of steel. Big shiny ones. |

Yeah, especially the part where he helped his buddy who took part in the deportation of Jews to their deaths escape punishment in Switzerland. |
