The Joe Rogan Experience: Wake Up Call

quote [ You can't wake a person who is pretending to sleep - Navajo proverb ]

I've posted before about Joe's podcast. This is a series of notable lines and set to video. I found it interesting and Im a big fan of Rogan. Please reserve mods and/or comments until you've seen enough to do so.

I will completely step away from this and let it live or die on its own merit. All links in extended.

I don't know if it qualifies as a repost since I was OP. But I like a lot of what Joe says. His podcast, if you like that sort of thing, is always on my schedule to listen to.

- I dont imagine that everyone will like this but hell, what are friends for if not to show you something you might never have seen. Roast me if you want but I like it.

For those who think that it is a bag of shit masquerading as a post, I give our sciencey friends some NDGT. (Neil Degrasse Tyson)

I listen to Carolla's podcast.

I have no idea why.

I'm a fan of Rogan, but this feels like Zeitgeist with poorer production values.

It was the Joe Rogan board that brought me to SE almost 10 years ago.

I'm glad I left.

I don't listen to his netcast, and this definitely didn't make me want to watch it. Hate the clips. Hate the music. Hate the shift from netcast to all the other shit.

The only thing this video makes me feel is sadness. Sadness over how Stanhope is 100% in my mind going to end up like Greg Geraldo. He's such a mess, and even his management encourages him to drink before gigs and podcasts because it's perceived that he's funnier with a few in 'em.

I respect Joe Rogan, but without the science and production of a show like Radiolab, I don't see the draw. I go with Keith and the Girl, Doug Loves Movies, and WTF for my comedy. Radiolab, Skeptic's Guide, and This American Life for my science and human stories needs. Then I also listen to Intelligence Squared America because I love debate, as well as This Week in Tech for tech news.

Netflix recently put up a new Doug Stanhope special called Burning the Bridge to Nowhere and damn do your remarks hit close to home. Still, the two-end burning candle does give off twice as much light.
bruceski said @ 2:16am GMT on 29th Jun
I'm not so sure about that. Either one end's going to be completely smothered (if held vertically) or both ends are going to be sputtering, partially blocked, and dripping a lot of wasted wax.
GordonGuano said @ 2:23am GMT on 29th Jun
Ah, so you watched the special too then.
MelloHippo said @ 11:50pm GMT on 29th Jun
Does anyone else think Radiolab is absurdly overproduced, and find their teasing, carrot-on-a-stick story presentation insulting to your intelligence?

Just me? I thought so...

+1 for Dr.Tyson.

Unfortunately, after watching 3 episodes, Mr. Rogan appears to not be scientifically literate, which made it hard for me to enjoy the conversations in those episodes.

Joe gets a little harder to watch in the latter episodes when he starts going off on mushrooms and his belief that psychzpsychadelics are panacea. I enjoy the majority of what he talks about, despite how odd some of those opinions are.

I linked this particular series, which is fan. Not Joe, made, because it semed luke training wheels for JRE.

When I get homom work I'll link in some more Dr. Tyson. That guy is world class smart/cool. Google his youtube interview with Stephen Colbert. I would link but am in car about to go into the job.

Cheers all

I love Joe, he's a old school MMA forum poster and generally good guy.

But as soon as he starts in on acting informed on anything scientific other than fight sports, I turn him off.
