Learn Mandarin online with female models

quote [ Mandarin is now one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, but it isn’t easy to master, especially for beginners. But an online school has come up with a new way that is sure to attract a lot of attention, especially among male viewers. ]

I'm really, really having a hard time with the pronunciation and these lessons seem to assume you already have that bit down pat. I can't seem to say anything at all like they do - some introductory phonetics lesson would probably help a lot more than two women in bed (awesome as that may be) repeating the same thing 2-3 times before rapidly moving on.

Mind you, if they had taught history and geography like this back in high-school.... :)

Then classes would only last about 5 minutes for boys.

Some people never get them. I met people who had been learning for three years who still couldn't pronounce tones and some of the other sounds correctly.

The voiceover cartoon man might be one of them.

Learning Mandarin is a pointless time-suck. Because of its hopelessly archaic writing system, Mandarin will not become a world language. And indeed, most of the growth in Mandarin speakers has been among citizens of the PRC who are now being forced to learn and speak Mandarin as part of the PRC's comprehensive program to destroy all non-Mandarin dialects and minority languages.

They are normally bi-lingual as a result of being forced to use an unified language.

Wait a couple of generations. If it even takes that long. When you use the same language in school, in dealings with government, and see it on TV, and when your native language is disparaged as a "dialect," it disappears. It took the French a long time to wipe out Occitan, but thanks to mass media it won't take the Chinese nearly as long to wipe out Cantonese.
