quote [ On his 32nd Birthday Gary cracks a few wines with a Special Guest. This has all the makings of a classsssic episode of WLTV! bubbles, sweets and a red wine. Join in today! ]
Someone made a comment amounting to how ridiculous wine tasting vocab is. So here is my response. This guy is trying to make wine a little more accessible. I've linked to my favorite episode.

I never was much for the wine tasting thing, but I picked up some similar lingo once I got into coffee tasting, and that's extended to my recent interest in whiskey tasting. almost offended a bar owner recently when I delighted in what I called "banana notes" in the well whiskey there. |

Don't you mean "Tropical fruit"? I happen to like that in whites but my wife and her mother, the real white wine fan hate that so I must have bad taste in whites.... hate the flower thing most of them have. Butter and oak are nice. |

I'm OK with an occasional wine (red, not white), but I prefer my beer. By the way, news for my hops-fan brethren |

My problem with wine is I can't drink more than a bottle of it without getting a case of the greasy black shits and a misereable all-day hangover. I'll stick with cheap whisky and good beer. |

Rum has the same effect on me. That's why I drink vodka 75% of the time. Very neutral spirit with little hangover risk. |

I'm assuming that's wine. can't read the signs well enough to tell for sure. anyway, if you put that in a supermarket here you'd become really popular with the local homeless population. |

i always liked running wine tastings at my store because i got to do it my way, and my way included informing my patrons that this particular moscato tastes "like froot loops! seriously, it's insane, just smell that! I KNOW!" no casual, voluntary situation involving booze, even small amounts, should be boring and lame. |

I recommend John Cleese's ? Wine For The Confused. Great introduction to wine basics and Cleese actively encourages refusing snobbery. One major recurring theme is, "Don't let anybody tell you what you're supposed to like." |

I don't know. I watched it via NetFlix, but I don't know about that availability in the UK. You could try bittorent, I suppose. |

Well, I can access the NetFlix site and Hulu as well, through a VPN, but I think you need a valid US postal address to sign up to NetFlix. And I don't have any money to pay for NetFlix. I don't really like Bittorrent. I can't seem to find it on Usenet though. |
