Tempers were flaring as everyone looked at everyone else. "He's guilty!" "No, HE is!" Finally, their rage got the better of them, and Jewbacchus, KingPellinore, and sythe all picked up stones and proceeded to kill each other, sure they were finally getting the Infiltrator. They were wrong.
Meanwhile, spite48 slipped out to the South Gate, which he opened for the enemy forces. Their new commander waited for him.
[mafia game] [by archangel_2@11:28amGMT] [+7 WTF] "Good work, Infiltrator. The nations -and especially your nation of Elmaroth - thank you." "Just doing my job, General. I take it the coup was successful? The allied commander was 'slain by Consortium spies'?" "Indeed. Truly tragic, that," the General said with a smile. "But it does allow Elmaroth forces to be the only ones stationed at the South Gate. We will give the other nations just enough to appease them, but the true wealth of the old Mercantile Consortium now belongs to Elmaroth!" And with that, they went to catalog and collect their plunder. Infiltrators win. A few points: the Mafia consisted of 5 members. One was the Godfather (cool_drool), who's role as a member of the mafia could not be detected by Investigation. Another member was the Usurper (spite48), who lost even if the mafia won, unless the Godfather was killed. If the Godfather was killed, he became the Godfather (along with all the abilities that entailed). What I didn't tell the mafia was that IF the Godfather used the mafia kill action on a night he was investigated, he WOULD be detectable. That never happened. Also among the Infiltrators was a Lover of the Serial Killer (Silent). He did not win if the Mafia won, but only if the Serial Killer did. Because I had two Mafia players opposed to the Mafia, I gave them two extra members, who were Traitors to let them avoid detection. (The Traitor is another title for Mafia Spy, straight from sythe's primer, if you want to check it out - or read my description of them in the Mafia Google Group.) They were not Infiltrators, but did share the win condition with the Mafia, and could become Mafia (except that they were Lynched Day One and Two. Go figure.) I highly recommend reading the Mafia Google Group. spite48 continued to give a play by play of his actions after there were no other mafia players, and it's very illuminating. |

Next up were the special Guild roles. Here's the messages I sent out to people who received each of the roles: You have gained the special role of the Watund Guild: Vigilante. You may only use either Watcher or Vigilante. If you use Vigilante, you retain it on the following night. If you use Watcher instead (or fail to use any role), it randomly passes to another member of the Guild. Vigilante allows you a night kill action. You have gained the special role of the Travent Guild: Cop. You may only use either Tracker or Cop. If you use Cop, you retain it on the following night. If you use Tracker instead (or fail to use any role), it randomly passes to another member of the Guild. Cop allows you to see every role a player has in the game, so long their role does not block or hide them from yours. You have gained the special role of the Elise Bagode Guild: Doctor. You may only use either Elite Bodyguard or Doctor. If you use Doctor, you retain it on the following night. If you use Elite Bodyguard instead (or fail to use any role), it randomly passes to another member of the Guild. Doctor allows you to protect your target, without the loss of life (yours or the attackers). You have gained the special role of the Corese Guild: Nexus. If you use Nexus, you retain it on the following night. If you fail to use it (for any reason), it randomly passes to another member of the Guild. Nexus allows you to pick a target. Any action that targeted you that night will affect your target instead. Players targeting you will know they were misdirected (though it will not change the actions themselves). This ability can be used every night (though there is a 25% chance it will randomly pass to another player, regardless of whether you use it or not.) You have gained the special role of the Roblinde Guild: Thief. If you use Thief, you retain it on the following night. If you fail to use it (for any reason), it randomly passes to another member of the Guild. Thief allows you to not only block another player's role, but allows you to STEAL that role for use the following night. (Note: using another player's role counts as a use of the Thief role, but does not prevent the player from using the role themselves. It only prevents their using it on the one night.) |

The one that messed everyone up was the Travent role: Cop. Unfortunately, I told the Cop that his ability "allows you to see every role a player has in the game, so long their role does not block or hide them from yours" - meaning, that if someone showed up guilty, they were guilty; if they showed up innocent, they weren't necessarily innocent. He either didn't understand this, forgot about it, or ignored it as the best option available. I don't know - he never asked for clarification on this point. |

Nobody would really have expected a second godfather. That's the only reason I was able to make it. Of course, I proposed the possibility of a second godfather just so that if anyone accused me of being one, I could suggest that the last thing I would do is bring attention to that possibility. |

No prob. It happens. Because of all the Watchers and Trackers, I gave them two Traitors, a Godfather, and the Usurper could become the Godfather. None of that protected against Watchers and Trackers, but I figured they could use it to try to claim innocence long enough to be investigated. I honestly thought the Usurper wouldn't be useful, since it would be hard to kill the Godfather. That didn't last long, though, and both Traitors were killed IMMEDIATELY, so it turned out that the immunity to investigation was ONLY useful for the Usurper. Go figure. |

Thanks King P. I was very, very lucky. The points where luck carried the day were: The original Godfather got himself killed without me having to lift a finger. I wasn't investigated prior to that. Smorar and Brat saved me from the lynch. I managed to get Zelgius to investigate me before he died. The double lynch and early end to the final day. I also have to give a bunch of credit to the other infiltrators. They accepted sacrifice votes without complaint - and that got me to the late game. |
