quote [ "Made from 12,500 reclaimed plastic bottles, the recycled srPET is a strong, bouyant material. The mast is made from reclaimed aluminum irrigation pipe and the sail is hand-made from reycled PET as well. To top it off, the secondary bonding is reinforced using a newly developed organic glue made from cashew nuts and sugar cane. It's a very green boat, and its credentials don't stop with the construction." ]
So far, so good.

I assumed it was an homage to Kon-Tiki. But you're right, it probably could have used a little work. "Kon-Plasti"? Sounds like some kind of cosmetic surgery. |

I suppose tiki boat did not precede Kon-Tiki, but it seems to me the former is more prevalent in the mass consciousness anyway. |

"organic glue made from cashew nuts and sugar cane" I bought some eco-friendly shoes made with an organic glue, and they fell apart in the rain. Just sayin'. |

...out of personal idiosyncrasy or do you actually have a valid reason for "avoiding" vimeo? |

I forget. But it was several bad experiences. Almost all video sources except Youtube and Google have obnoxious hard to avoid ads, long delays and time outs, bad controls for playback, and just generally bug me. And lately, Youtube is also having lots of dropouts especially in high def modes so I usually use Flashgot to download the video and view it off line. I s'pose the ISP probably contributes to the slowing but it's cable so who knows? Streamed video is useful but it's often a poor visual quality pain in the ass just like much of the internet. People just grow up with it or get used to it and they forget or don't care what decent visual and audio experiences are/were like. |
