quote [ IE9 has "HTML5 through and through," Hachamovitch said, as well as support for CSS3 and for showing SVG 1.1 imagery inline. Hachamovitch's demo shows H.264-encoded HTML5 video, and he said that graphics such as maps are vastly more sophisticated with SVG support. ]

I don't know, but yesterday was Steak and Blowjob Day. I had a delicious top sirloin with sauteed porcini mushroom risotto, grilled aubergine and a robust 2004 Malbec. Then I sucked dicks until sunrise. |

I am an idiot. I sat here for a few minutes thinking that the white bucket was awfully far out in front and wondered how he was going to reach it to drum on. |

You're not alone. I made the same mistake when I saw this video a while back. I thought he was going to throw his drumsticks at it. |

It is possible for IE to not suck. It might bite. |

This is mostly just hot air from Microsoft PR. I'm pretty sure they said IE 8 was going to not suck too. And every release prior to that. I'll believe it when when I see it not sucking. |

So in other words IE9 is going to support the standards that all the other browsers on the market currently support. Funny how MS spins catching up to the rest of the market as big news. |

If they can do that AND maintain backwards compatibility with their old broken-ass standard, that will be new trick. Why you'd want that sort of compatibility: http://www.joelonsoftware.com/items/2008/03/17.html |

If they manage to add SVG support I will be impressed. Your linked article reminds me of the old saying "Standards are great, there are so many to choose from." |

If they manage FULL SVG support I'll be impressed. Apparently they've implemented < 20% so far. That doesn't really help anyone. |

So IE9 supports the COMPLETE HTML 5 standard... that isn't yet published on http://www.w3.org Sound like MS is trying to co-opt yet another industry standard, claiming that their take on it is right by virtue of being commercialized first. Wait 'till it's finalized, THEN run benchmarks against the competing browsers. Anything else is just hype, or (if honest) a statement of intent. |

Seems I'm stating the obvious: Poll: Is IE9 enough? Many have switched from IE over the years. Will Microsoft's IE9 preview draw you back into the fold? Over my dead body. 38.0% Only if IE9 delivers on the promises. 35.4% Come back? I never left. 15.0% Yes, Microsoft cares about the Web again. 11.6% Total votes: 5386 |
