Anti-Gay Republican State Senator Arrested Coming Out (of gay bar)

quote [ A male passenger, who was not identified as a lawmaker, was also in the car but was not detained. ]

State senator goes to gay bar, gets drunk, and leaves with unknown male companion. Is arrested for DUI.

So, how long before we all understand that homophobia is born from repressed homosexuals?

Here’s your hypocrite of the day… or maybe of the year so far*: State Sen. Roy Ashburn (R-Calif.), who despises gays and lesbians and thinks they are not real people, was arrested last night after exiting a Sacramento gay club.

Of course, he wasn’t arrested for attending a known homosexual hangout (although I’m sure his cronies would love it if he introduced a bill banning such places), he was arrested for drunk driving.

In a state-issued vehicle.

The best part of all is contained herein:

Ashburn, a father of four, is a Republican Senator representing parts of Kern, Tulare and San Bernardino Counties with a history of opposing gay rights.

When the officer stopped the state-issued vehicle, the driver identified himself as Senator Ashburn. He was arrested without incident and charged with two misdemeanors: driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level higher than .08% or higher.

A male passenger, who was not identified as a lawmaker, was also in the car but was not detained. [CBS 13]

Now all we need to do, is play the above song around the senator, and see if he flies into an anti gay rage.

There is no WAY he didn't know it was a gay bar.

More likely he'll cry for the cameras, say he's sick, attend a rehab clinic for the DUI, and come back a few months later saying he's been "cured" of the gay by being closer to Jesus.

Now he'll have a press release saying that he has seen the error of his ways, he's back on the straight and narrow and he is choosing a heterosexual lifestyle, just the way that god intended and if he can make that choice then so can every other homosexual out there and they should still get figuratively fucked up the ass by society.

until he gets caught in the next gay bar...

Then the response from the media should be.

"you're not fooling anyone senator.. "

By then he'll start using the internet to meet young men.
He'll claim to be a Roy Ashburn impersonator, demanding the young fellow call him Senator Ashburn during the sex just to "stick it" to the homophobe.

Roy Ashburn raped and murdered a young man in 1990

To his defense, he could have went to the gay bar for cheap drinks and nice company, not for getting gay sex.

Most people I know that oppose "the gays" are pretty uncomfortable around them. Especially in a place that is specifically for gay people. Or maybe he was pulling a Jesus and spending his time with people he equated with prostitutes, tax collectors, and other socially reprehensible figures.

so then, drinking in a gay bar with gay friends makes you gay... or does that only applies if you are an anti-gay activist?

I dunno...maybe he realized that gay clubs are usually very fun and he needed to relax a little bit from all that anti-gay activism activities he participated on during the week....

While their findings are consistent with that theory, the authors note that there is another, competing theoretical explanation: anxiety. According to this theory, viewing the male homosexual videotape may have caused negative emotions (such as anxiety) in the homophobic men, but not in the non-homophobic men. As the authors note, 'anxiety has been shown to enhance arousal and erection,' and so it is also possible that 'a response to homosexual stimuli [in these men] is a function of the threat condition rather than sexual arousal per se. These competing notions can and should be evaluated by future research.'

Rather, I'd suspect that 4-10% of conservatives are gay, just like everyone else.
