response to this and other cake related media especially on the food network:

It's a god damned cake. I don't care how pretty it is, or how precariously it the top layer is perched on the layers below. Fondant tastes like grainy ass, especially if some dumbass sits there diddling it for an hour trying to lay it out.

And the second you put an inedible substructure inside your cake, it's not a cake anymore.

If I don't want to fucking eat it, it's not a fucking cake.

Cake can be a work of art and be tasty. It can be admired for both qualities.

I think it's the old "less is more" sort of thinking. "Rustic" food is what appeals to some, while others enjoy the artificial colors, flavors and whatnot that are designed to make every type of food appear to have the friendliness of good ol' CAKE.

not true! a bag of mini marshmallows, melted + a bag of confectioner's sugar + lubed with crisco up to the elbows (yes, yes, yes) = edible fondant. granted, it will make you bounce off the walls, but it's smooth, chewy and sweet, kind of like taffy, and is easily tinted and worked like crappy fondant.

I wouldn't. I got tired of that song about a day after the game was released (since I work at a gaming radio, and just about everyone played it and oh god the joke. The joke got old way too fast but people keep on using it), and I for one wouldn't like seeing that game referenced here on SE.

For a couple days, I had that song set as my ring tone. I changed it after I got a call while standing in a huge line at the post office and had everyone turn and look at me when a random weird sounding girl started singing from my pocket.

I get cautious of cakes and cupcakes that look too good -- They usually taste like crap. Not to mention, being such a pack-rat, I start thinking of ways of coating the thing to preserve it forever...

...At that point, why bother being a cupcake?
