Sensible Colonial Marines: D-Day +10

lilmookiesquire stepped away from the other four, a lazy grin across his face.
“They're calling to my baby, it's time now!” He tittered, rocked back on his feet, and collapsed. His laughter continued, cracking and wet, until the creature had escaped his chest. A check of body proved him to be the Signal Officer and a Marine.

The three survivors stood in a circle, looking sporadically between one another, and the brilliant floodlights from the Montero in low orbit. There was still no sign of the dropship, but the addition of the Queen to the hoard below was driving them to find a way to the roof. The metal supports began to groan as acidic blood seeped through them, slowly causing the building to shift and shake. Time was running short.

As an officer, we are tasked to make difficult decisions often. This one before me I see as the hardest I'll ever make. I have enjoyed the privilege of serving with the both of you great over the last few days, even considering the circumstances. But I do believe my decision is the right one, considering the risks of choosing otherwise or choosing wrongly.

As such, with 20 seconds remaining, I choose to vote for no one and allow the double lynch to proceed.

FOR THE HUMAN RACE.

Uh, no.
spite48 said @ 4:56am GMT on 7th Jan
Worth a shot though, eh?
Stension said @ 1:05pm GMT on 7th Jan
That's what I figured. Scarlette could be WY and sym could have been alien. Voting between them gave me a 50% chance of marines winning. Or hell, Scarlette could be WY AND sym could have been alien, giving me an even lower chance. Since we've basically been playing this game blind, I figured why not? Though if I had to choose, I'd prob have voted for symmetrian.
spite48 said @ 3:27pm GMT on 7th Jan
Wouldn't it have been funnier to vote for yourself? You had an opportunity there and you totally blew it. ;)
Stratafyre said @ 4:24pm GMT on 7th Jan
...So is that a vote for Symmetrian?
Stension said @ 5:04pm GMT on 7th Jan
I don't understand your reluctance to run games as they go. Is a marine being the last survivor an unplanned for end?
Stratafyre said @ 5:56pm GMT on 7th Jan
You don't have the option of voting for no one? I'm sorry, No one isn't playing.
Scarlett said @ 8:00pm GMT on 7th Jan
I'm pretty sure Stratafyre does write the game as he goes, but voting for no one was not an option for this game. Activity was required, as the "ten posts a day" ruled implied. But, basically, the end was ruined because of stubbornness on both sides.

So, anyway, good job everyone. Everyone is a winner?

I think he had both endings written out already and you threw the proverbial wrench.
lilmookieesquire said @ 6:28am GMT on 8th Jan
I'm not the only person who called that, was I.
Stension said @ 4:34am GMT on 6th Jan
Well....gather round folks. We have dear PVT symmetrian, SGT Scarlett, and yours truly 2LT Stension here on this hell hole surrounded by God's ass droppings. I know I'm just another marine trying to do his job, which leaves you symmetrian and Scarlett.

Now, Scarlett essentially gave us the bug Queen. Which begs the question how did she know? WY perhaps? Symmetrian has been pretty damn quiet, but still voted. Perhaps he's just keeping a low profile. TRUST, WHERE IS IT?

As the ranking officer, I expect you both to provide a brief statement. My vote will come after. Common soldiers, we'll live through this yet!
Scarlett said @ 4:48am GMT on 6th Jan
If I wanted anyone but my Marines to win, I really don't think I would've pointed you to the Queen Bug. Look at my track record, I've always downed bugs because I've known who they were, but kept quiet to avoid being a target. I'm just an Intel Officer, which is why I know you're a Marine, too, because symmetrian is not one of us. If we were outnumbered by any others, we wouldn't have survived. It's you and I, Lieutenant. I'm standing with you and voting for the final parasite, symmetrian. We can make it home, solider, don't give up on me now.
symmetrian said @ 7:44am GMT on 6th Jan
I say scarlett's Wyland Yutani. Just a guess, but the intel officer shit seems like hooey to me. I don't know about you, but I'd rather be eaten by the xenos then let them take them off-world.
Stension said @ 1:01pm GMT on 6th Jan
Oh jeeze. Well...I'll look at all the details and vote right before the clock hits 0. We'll see.....

Scarlett said @ 7:48pm GMT on 6th Jan
This is where my mindset is. If you are a Marine (and I trust that), it's as simple as killing the last bug and we make it home. I haven't kept an eye on you because, as a Marine, I know that one of you had to be a bug. It was one or the other, either person I intel'd would tell me who the other one was. And since Stension and I have been working together to kill the bugs, I kept an extra close eye on symmetrian and it was confirmed. It's a pretty simple game at this point, though trust is anything but simple. It's been a pleasure, men! ...man?

The building lurched violently to one side, one end of the roof slanting down towards the planet's surface. The lowered height allowed the xenomorph horde below to finally reach, and they began to scurry up and onto the surface and towards the three remaining survivors. The first few fell to a barrage of rifle fire, but the ammo was already severely depleted by this point. Symmetrian, Stension and Scarlett had backed up against the highest point on the roof, seemingly to make their last stand.

The sudden whine of a jet engine caused the entire scene to pause, the dazzling lights from the drop ship reflecting off of the smooth carapaces of the aliens, the rocket pods already deployed and firing when it rose above the edge of the building. The ramp was lowered, Scarlett making a running leap, the back of her web vest grabbed by the Marine inside. He pulled her up and in, and she quickly turned to catch Stension's hand as he made his own jump. Both turned to grab for Symmetrian as the final Marine leapt from the crumbling building below.

As the two grabbed for his arms, however, they began to distend, spindly black exoskeleton bursting through the remnants of flesh. His face elongated, rows of sharp teeth gnashing as he tried to claw his way into the dropship. His claws scrabbled for purchase on the ramp, before catching a bit of Stension's uniform leg, with only Scarlett's quick movements saving him, as she sliced the cloth with her knife. What had been Symmetrian fell back to the rooftop, screaming in unearthly anger. Waypoint 761 remained in the hands of the Xenomorphs, but the last remaining members of both the Marines and the Weyland-Yutani corporation had escaped. The game ends in a Draw.

Scarlett said @ 8:30pm GMT on 7th Jan
Heh, thanks. It seems like the aliens got ahold of information in their group from the GM that they shouldn't have had, which ultimately allowed them to get an advantage for "WY paranoia" after everyone else had thought them to have died out. Otherwise, I was pretty confident I was going all the way to the end.

Very fun, players, well done! A+ for sticking with your roles and making my first game go very well! CORPORATION 4 LYF. ^^;
brat#3 said @ 8:41pm GMT on 7th Jan
What info would that be?

If you mean penisinface, we only knew he was immune to infection, not anything about what he was. And I think him learning all of our identities meant that the advantage wasn't on our side.
Scarlett said @ 8:51pm GMT on 7th Jan
Oh, no no. I meant the aliens getting ahold of the information two days ago that there was still a WY left. And to be fair, I asked penisinface if he knew anything as a Synthetic but he said that he could provide nothing as his "programming" wouldn't allow him to, meaning Stratafyre told him to keep his mouth shut. Heh.
Stension said @ 9:48pm GMT on 7th Jan
Well mookie suspecting me of being WY instead of you kinda eased up on the pressure no? I'm still weirded out by the ending to be honest. I had strong suspections that you were WY and sym was alien, and so chose my course of action to ensure a marine win....which apparently isn't possible?!

Good job though! Killing the queen was a delightful occurrence.
foobar said @ 9:58pm GMT on 7th Jan
I'm pretty sure there was a Marine win condition.
Todomanna said @ 10:17pm GMT on 7th Jan
I'd say, when all aliens were dead, if there were more marines than WY, marines win, if more WY than marines, WY win. Since it was neither, they both won/lost.
Stratafyre said @ 10:28pm GMT on 7th Jan
Had the final alien been killed, the Marines would have won. WY was a semi-mason group with a win condition that would have allowed only them to win.
foobar said @ 10:34pm GMT on 7th Jan
Which required our biologist, who was killed the first night. So we were on the Marine's side almost the whole time.

We would have taken good care of your baby, Mookie.
Scarlett said @ 12:24am GMT on 8th Jan
Yeah, as soon as our Xenobiologist died, our win condition was moot. Which I have to say is ridiculously lucky for Marines because otherwise, WY would've won shortly after the game begun. I was just getting really lucky with investigations, alien after alien after alien the entire game. We would've had our embryo on the first night and I stole Mookie's drop codes shortly thereafter. Damn you, Marines!
lilmookieesquire said @ 6:21am GMT on 8th Jan

lilmookieesquire said @ 6:20am GMT on 8th Jan
To be fair, you were the ONLY human officer. I thought the aliens would have wanted to take out the chain of command a long time ago.
lilmookieesquire said @ 6:25am GMT on 8th Jan
I think you were suppose to kill the alien, but this was a nice feel good ending
lilmookieesquire said @ 6:18am GMT on 8th Jan
Actually... I screwed over the alien team with good intentions.

I was thinking stension was a WY who stole my codes (I had codes for the dropship, so I was waiting all game to use them!), and if scarlette (who I thought was the last marine) died with me, then WY would have won because the last marine would have been infected, the aliens would have been dead- but with an embryo to go, and stension (who I thought was WY) would be safely on the ship.

I was told that my mind was PARTIALLY controlled by the aliens, and as a marine, I figured my loyalties laid with both marines and aliens (and NOT WY)

As a result, I voted to kill the queen in order to prevent that scenario. Only later did I realize scarlette was the WY employee.)

I actually prevented an alien win with best intentions- so I guess everything evens out.
lilmookieesquire said @ 6:12am GMT on 8th Jan
Hey, will we be getting an epilogue explaining the highlights and the rules etc? I still want to know if scarlette could have won because she got my codes for the dropship?
Todomanna said @ 8:51pm GMT on 8th Jan
Question for BNB if she's around, are you okay to finish Sensible BR? I think I'll probably need to fine-tune my game before it's really playable (plus flavor text, etc etc) so it might be a bit before I start mine. A week or more, I think. Unless Aids is up for going next.
spite48 said @ 4:38pm GMT on 11th Jan
Are you done? Are you planning on wrapping this up?

I mean, I know the game is done, but this game was rules-blind - an epilogue with reveals would be nice.
