The Boston area's favorite burlesque troupe is under fire, and tonight they're holding a benefit performance to raise support & money. Details in the extended.
Sadly, I'm laid low recovering from a wisdom tooth removal, but if you're in the Boston area and looking for something to do, this is looking like a great show and it goes to a good cause.

The Babydolls' rehearsal space is not a strip club. Nothing is being done publicly in Quincy. The women in the troupe are not heroin-addicted would-be prostitutes. They are ordinary women with degrees, good-paying jobs and intellectual hobbies. What's more, from what little I've seen and read of Quincy, there are some much more glaring moral problems lying around the place. I have friends in the Babydolls, and know the owner personally. He is a great guy who really is trying to keep Burlesque alive, and this debacle is really a shame. It's fairly cheap; I'd go, but my face hurts like hell and I'm taking Percocet on a regular basis :( |

I'd have to come down from Maine, so I'd be looking at gas and tolls and blah blah. All in all, probably not more than thirty bucks total, but that's 30 bucks that I don't have to spend. |

On the bright side, the negative effects wear off in half the time, and you're much less likely to become addicted. I do feel your pain, though; it's a crap perk. |

It'd be so much better if these kinds of things had the girls actually doing tech stuff, instead of a logo (usually photoshopped) being somewhere nearby. I remember seeing one 'techy' girl rolling around with an apple laptop... which wasn't even turned on. Kinda spoils the illusion. |

I think they're implying that most gentlemen in the service profession are not hot. Though really I think that even that is reading too much into the 'joke' -- I think it's just an absurd juxtaposition put on display. |
