quote [ The edict, issued by officials in Hubei province in central China, threatens to fine officials who "fail to meet their targets" or are caught smoking rival brands manufactured in neighbouring provinces. ]
Talk about counterproductive. I can't wait to hear about the medical system troubles they will have in 20-40 yrs. Perhaps they figure they've got population to spare?
Thumb from here: Chain smoking turtle

Well, stimulus is stimulus. Doesn't matter what people spend on, so long as they spend on something. Can't have people "hoarding" their money now, can we. It's nice to see the Keynesian revolution has made it through the bamboo curtain. No doubt they will now be rich beyond dreams of avarice as their economy blooms due to the glory of the multiplier. Rich and dying of lung cancer, yes, but hey... omelettes, eggs, etc. |

Please. Jaxtraw. Seriously. Do you have to drop it into every post? Every one? Can't you just skip a couple? Really. You'd find a way to propagate Libertarianism in a post about paraplegic dwarfs giving sloppy head to manta rays. Just give it a rest for a while, okay? For the sake of all that's just and right and true? Please? |

Well, to be fair, we have a lot of posts which centre around the state dropping itself into the lives of people with negative consequences. If the paraplegic dwarves were being subsidised to give sloppy head to manta rays, he may be justified in bringing it up then too. |

To be even more fair, your political ideology is fucked in the head and is as good for humanity as replacing the theory of evolution with creationism. Keeping that fact in mind, post it accordingly. |

To be more than fair, we also have a lot of posts about human greed, deception, and corruption dropping into the lives of people with negative consequences but we don't all advocate a statism and total redistribution of wealth(and don't even go there). If the paraplegic dwarves were deceiving, manipulating and skimming profits from the public while pretending to give sloppy head to manta rays we aren't all proposing to ban manta ray head. Give it up. |

Only two sites on the internet in your neck of the woods? Damn near every story on the internet comes from "somewhere else". Or would you prefer that SE be nothing but "Ask SE" post? Joey, joe, joe, joe ... you're missing the whole point of this "blog" thing ;) |

Hubei cigarettes? Why smoke those when you can get sweet, sweet Hongtashan from Yunnan? I've heard that Yellow Crane Tower cigarettes are pretty good, but I was never able to get any. Wait, what were we talking about? And why is that man letting his turtle smoke? |
