Women's Suffrage: Scourge of the Nation

quote [ I realize that these laws have been passed by mostly men, but the only reason these men got elected was because they played upon the fears of women and castrated men during the election campaign. ]

The comments, many of them by women, are gold. What I want to know is, what the FUCK are they doing out of the kitchen?

Actually, do have one question: the first comment says something about every Democratic victory except Johnson's (over Goldwater) being due to women, which seems to be a misquote of Ann Coulter, who said every Democratic victory since 1950, except for Johnson's, was due to women, that without the women's vote, Democrats would have lost every time except for Johnson, since 1950. True?
Anti-fuites said @ 9:58pm GMT on 31st Mar
I'm assuming they're talking about presidential elections. So that leaves Kennedy, Carter, Clinton and Obama.

I'd believe that for Kennedy and Clinton. No clue about Carter.

Women definitely voted for Obama by a wider margin than men, but according to this men also voted in favor of Obama.

So, if that's to be believed then no, untrue.
Janus said @ 10:42pm GMT on 31st Mar
Interesting. Corollary question might be, was there any instances where Republicans would have lost were it not for women's votes.
arctan said @ 11:08pm GMT on 31st Mar
Men voted for Obama, but among *white* men Obama lost convincingly.

So, y'know, if we went back to the old original rules of who should be allowed to vote none of this would be a problem.
sanepride said @ 10:36pm GMT on 31st Mar
You're taking these idiots much too seriously.
Janus said @ 10:42pm GMT on 31st Mar
It's a legitimate question. Didn't know women were predominantly Democrat, which I guess they are.
sanepride said @ 12:06am GMT on 1st Apr
Women voted in droves for Reagan and the so-called 'security moms' handed GW Bush his second term. There are two sides to the coin.
hackiavelli said @ 1:16am GMT on 1st Apr
The burden of proof lies on the claimant so it's up to Ann Coulter to back up the stupid shit she says. The fact that we use a secret ballot system in America so those stats aren't even kept should at the very least give you pause.
arctan said @ 1:20am GMT on 1st Apr
Well, we have exit polls for a reason, and every national-level candidate who wants to win elections bases their strategy around those polls.
hovercraftpilot said @ 3:15am GMT on 1st Apr
You're assuming the exit poll information your getting is honest and straight.

Since its been proven that voting machine security can be easily bypassed & in many cases there is no paper trail, any numbers of voters may have had their vote changed without their knowledge; exit polling is suspect even when the voter answers honestly.

arctan said @ 9:57pm GMT on 1st Apr
...Whaaat?

Shit, man, you got two completely different arguments cobbled together here. If anything you seem to be making an argument that exit polls are *more* accurate than the actual election, since "voting machines" are only for the election, not the exit poll -- the exit poll consists of a guy filling out a form in front of a bunch of witnesses.
sanepride said @ 1:37am GMT on 1st Apr
Also, if you're using 1950 as the starting point, remember that the Republicans have done better in national office, winning nine presidential elections compared to the Democrat's six (counting 2000 as a Republican win, even though they received fewer votes). So if women really are predominantly Democrat, clearly they aren't predominantly Democrat enough to have significantly swayed which party controls the White House.
hackiavelli said @ 5:05am GMT on 1st Apr
Women only make up 17% of Congress critters so they're not even a big enough political force to get proportional representation in the legislature.
conga said @ 9:33pm GMT on 31st Mar

We need to end women's suffrage. Women deserve better. It's sad to think that in this day and age there are still people suffraging in the world.

Yep, before Women us blokes just sat around and discussed things logically without acting on emotions.

Is Lisa staring at William Shatner on the left there?
Forsaken_One said @ 10:39am GMT on 1st Apr
I dunno, I read that as Lisa (right) is looking at the boy behind her with interest. Stephanie (left) meanwhile is staring at Lisa's tits, obviously a lot more interested in them than in any boys that may be around.

Lisa discovers she's heterosexual. Stephanie discovers the opposite.

I take a similar stance to this guy, except I think no one is logical enough to deserve the right to vote, myself included.

Our laws should be decided by a sufficiently powerful, sentient super-computer.

And until the day that is possible, our laws should be determined by lottery.
