How do I tag names in the main post?

First and foremost, you need to make sure that all of the living players names are surrounded by strong tags like this:

This will make sure that cb361's script correctly identifies who still hasn't voted. Remember, anything placed inside strong tags is going to read as a "player", so for anything else you want bolded you need to use:

What about colors you ask? Well, that's just as easy. Just use the following code:

That would make text look like this. You can swap out the word "red" for most other standard colors, or you can use numbers from a chart like this one. Just don't go overboard.

One more note: It's generally easier on the players if you separate out the dead players from the living in some distinctive manner (most people just list them sectioned out below the living players). Just remember not to strong tag the dead players.

What about those neat clocks?
You may have seen embedded clocks that allow the players to know exactly when days/nights end and keep you from having to specify something like 8am EST, I mean 8am EDT, I mean -5h GMT, I mean frik! Well, here’s the code for one of them:

That produces something like this:
You can change the text that displays at day end by replacing “End of day” with the message you want. Also, the time can be set by changing the “2069, etc etc” number section. The format is yyyy,mm,dd,hh,mm,ss.

Alternatively, you can go here and set all the parameters up for yourself.

Expandable boxes
If you've got a ton of information you want available to your players (like a player list in a big game) but don't want to clutter up the main post, you can make an expandable box for people to click instead:

Linking previous days
As a courtesy, put links to previous days in the bottom of the main post. Giving even the easiest a shortcut tends to cut down on arguments over the rules. Really, just a link will do:

Sure can. You can change it as you post, or you can use code like this to change it everywhere on the page:

Just change "yourname" to your SE user name and "The GM" to whatever you want to be known as. Note that the profile link on your post will happily still send people to your profile.
