Sensible Abduction: Epilogue

quote [ “All good things must come to an end, but all bad things can continue forever.” ]

“We shot Stension and Daffyduck, and were proven correct: Stension was a Reptiloid and Daffyduck was a Grey.”

“What about Theolypse?”

“Well, we weren't sure whether to shoot him or not. Some thought his revelation to be a Reptiloid was fake – that he wanted to 'commit suicide by cop.' Their theory was that he was an innocent that just couldn't handle this shit anymore and wanted out the only sure way he knew how. So instead of shooting him, we decided to post a guard and get some sleep – figuring it would be better to deal with the Bridge after a good night's sleep...as if that could happen on that damned ship.

“No, we were instead awakened to yelling. I barely saw the man assigned to watch Theolypse as he ran through the doorway to the Engine Room. I eventually caught up with him at Observation Room 1, where he was peering over the edge toward the ground – not that we could see the ground, as it was still night, but that's where he was looking. He kept saying, 'I can't believe it! He jumped.' Honestly, I'm still not sure why he didn't just decide to kill his guard – I mean, he WAS a Reptiloid, after all...”

“What makes you say that he was a Reptiloid? Did you recover the body later?”

“Nope – it was Muldis who told us. He was actually pissed at Theolypse for jumping, and appeared to us in the Observation Room. 'Damn him! I was going to get another day's entertainment out of you...people, but he had to fuck that up, didn't he? And I bet you people aren't even going to continue killing each other, are you? Actually, I know how to do it! Only ONE of you can live! So...turn on each other, and the last man standing will be allowed off my new ship!'

“We looked at each other and opened fire on him. Didn't do any good, though – one of the guys said he was 'incorporeal' or something. Whatever it was, the bullets just passed right through him. He laughed long and hard at us, and we finally decided that if 'fight' didn't work, 'flight' was the next course of action. We RAN as fast as we could for the Bridge, and once we got there, to the 'Exit.'

“Looking back on it, it's clear that's what Muldis really wanted. No doors were locked, nothing blocked our path, and while he was bearing down on us, I don't think we outran him – I think he LET us go. We activated the controls – Nibbon was a BIG help with that – and were transported down to the ground. We didn't travel 10 miles before your spooky silent black helicopters picked us up and took us here.

“Sirs, I've gotta say: I KNOW you want that Grey craft, but I think it would be a BAD idea to go back for it.”

“Oh? And why's that?”

“Because that's exactly what Muldis would want. I think the reason he let us get away was so we'd tell you where the Grey craft is, and lead you back to it...and him. There were only 8 of us left at the end, and his fun wouldn't last much longer – but if we lived, and brought people back for the craft...well, his fun could last MUCH longer.”

“Don't worry, son. When we go back for the craft, we'll be ready for 'Muldis'. Now, tell us again about what happened on the craft.”

“I've already told you FIFTEEN times! How many more ways can I tell you the same story? You know what? Fine. We awoke with total amnesia in what we'd later learn was a Holding Cell...”

I offered bobdidit a different role (since I wasn't sure mafia wouldn't be too tough for a first time player), but he wanted to give it a try, so no changes to mafia players were made.

One abductees was changed - when I killed Drewski3420 on Night Two, I gave his role to Plexer (Random.org picked him over Macst34).

Day One:

Lynched two Atlanteans

Night One:

Solved Puzzle:
apomorph was the first to solve the puzzle, gaining two objects (an anal probe and an image inducer). Everyone else who solved a puzzle got one:
Mopy J (nano-doc), shizac (psi-probe), dead_bob (nano-doc), plexer (short-range teleporter), kichijoii (image inducer), LoC (psi-probe), macst34 (short-range teleporter), cool_drool (short-range teleporter), redemption (anal probe), and brat#3 (sleep inducer).

All items were picked by Random.org

As for Night Actions, they were as follows:

Greys:
cool_drool kills spite48
daffyduck investigates jarringpeach
gmg investigates LoC (false read determined as soldier/protector)
bobdidit investigates lilmookieesquire

Reptiloids:
dead_bob kills bobdidit
redemption protects jarringpeach

Atlantean:
jewbacchus protects gmg

Other Abductees:
lilmookieesquire skitzo's (heals) anonymousbob
archangel_2 said @ 5:27am GMT on 17th Oct
Day Two:

lynch a Reptiloid

Day Actions:

Soldiers:
hpew investigates LoC (not a soldier)

Object Uses:
apomorph anal probes cool_drool (Mopy J and theolypse hold him down) Since cool_drool was a Grey, he was given the option of putting the brain whammy on one of the people involved in his demise. (His victim had 3 possible outcomes: 1) kill himself that night, 2) wound himself that night and every night he wasn't healed thereafter until he died or was healed, or 3) nothing.) Since cool_drool didn't respond before the end of the Day Phase, random.org picked theolypse and decided that nothing happened to him.
redemption anal probes Mopy J (brat#3 and bodnoirbabe hold him down). Since Mopy J was a human, the only effect was Mopy J being wounded.
(As an aside: if a Reptiloid had been anally probed, he would've immediately done one wound to each participants in his probing.)

Night Two:

Solved Puzzle:
brat#3 solved puzzle first (11:44pm)
plexer, apomorph, kichijoii, theolypse, jarringpeach, and coochorama42 solved within six hours of her
their reward was a bit of story information (an introduction to Muldis).

Greys:
daffyduck kills LoC
gmg investigates theolypse (false read determined as human, no role)
brat#3 investigates bodnoirbabe

Reptiloids:
clavalla kills dekebass
redemption protects jarringpeach

Atlantean:
jewbacchus protects jarringpeach

Soldiers:
hpew attempts to recruit theolypse (not a soldier, so fails)

Object Uses:
kichijoii hides behind shiney_things
shizac psi-probes plexer
brat#3 induces sleep in jarringpeach

This is when the Atlanteans would've gotten a google group (as they "remembered" each other), but since two of the three died, I just sent an e-mail of "Atlantean History" to each of them and left the google group without members.
archangel_2 said @ 5:38am GMT on 17th Oct
Oh! And this is when I Mod-Killed Drewski3420 for failing to vote two days in a row, too. (Never heard from him to join the google group for the dead, either.)
archangel_2 said @ 5:37am GMT on 17th Oct
Day Three:

lynched Grey

Day Actions:

Soldiers:
apomorph investigates clavalla (not a soldier)
hpew investigates coochorama42 (not a soldier)

Night Three:

Solved Puzzles:
puzzle 1: shizac, hpew, daffyduck, gmg
puzzle 2: apomorph, theolypse, coochorama42, jarringpeach, macst34, jewbacchus, kichijoii, plexer, Mopy J
the vast majority decided to solve puzzle two, resulting in going to the Engine Room rather than the Bridge (the Bridge would've offered the Grey Computer, but not the Recharger, but wouldn't've caused the radiation poisoning either.)

Greys:
shizac intends to kill clavalla, but instead kills macst34 (used a short-range teleporter to switch places)
daffyduck investigates eskimonoise
gmg investigates jewbacchus (false read determined as human thief)

Reptiloids:
jarringpeach kills apomorph (finds hider, anal probe)
redemption protects theolypse

Atlanteans:
jewbacchus protects kichijoii

Psychics:
anonymousbob investigates shiney things
nibbon investigates apomorph

Soldiers:
hpew recruits silent
eskimonoise kills jarringpeach (finds anal probe, hider)
shiney things tracks jarringpeach (sees her go to apomorph and eskimonoise go to her)
silent protects Mopy J

Other Abductees:
lilmookieesquire skitzo's (kills) redemption
bodnoirbabe heals Mopy J
plexer heals Mopy J (already done)
coochorama42 steals from shizac (psi-probe)
coochorama42 transfers psi-probe to Mopy J
Mopy J steals from nibbon (nothing)

Object Uses:
macst34 commutes with clavalla
archangel_2 said @ 5:47am GMT on 17th Oct
With the death of the Reptiloid's Bodyguard, random.org determined that Clavalla would be their new Bodyguard.
archangel_2 said @ 5:42am GMT on 17th Oct
Day Four:

lynched a Grey

Day Actions:

Soldiers:
hpew investigates lilmookieesquire (not a soldier)

Object Uses:
Eskimonoise activates hider (Gmg)
Mopy J recharges the psi-probe (+1 injury)
Mopy J gives the nano-doc to Coochorama42
Coochorama42 uses nano-doc on Mopy J
Coochorama42 recharges the nano-doc (+1 Injury)
Coochorama42 gives the nano-doc to Mopy J
Mopy J attempts to recharge the nano-doc again (explosion)
Mopy J gives the psi-probe to bodnoirbabe

Night Four:

Greys:
gmg kills hpew
daffyduck investigates stension

Reptiloids:
theolypse kills hpew
clavalla protects theolypse

Psychics:

Soldiers:
hpew recruits...no one (sent a PM saying so)
eskimonoise kills shiney things
shiney things tracks eskimonoise
silent protects nibbon

Other Abductees:
plexer heals Mopy J (reveals)
kichijoii heals theolypse (heals, reveals)

Object Uses:
kichijoii gives (used) hider to silent
archangel_2 said @ 5:53am GMT on 17th Oct
Day Five:

lynched Grey (crazy investigator)

No Day Actions.

Night Five:

Solved Puzzle:
First: kichijoii
Bridge: theolypse (psi-probe)
Exam Room: kichijoii (image inducer), jewbacchus (died), Mopy J (anal probe), plexer (died), coochorama42 (short-range teleporter), silent (image inducer)
Since kichijoii solved the puzzle first, he got to PICK which item he wanted. There were one of each of the six types of items, and random.org determined who got what (those that died, didn't get theirs, and they were left in Exam Room 2 unfound - namely, a sleep inducer and a nano-doc.)

Greys:
daffyduck kills clavalla

Reptiloids:
stension attempts to kill nibbon (protected by silent)
clavalla protects theolypse

Atlanteans:
jewbacchus protects kichijoii

Psychics:
nibbon investigates jewbacchus

Soldiers:
eskimonoise attempts to kill stension, but plexer used short-range teleporter to switch places
silent protects nibbon

After Action Review:

Two Mafia groups didn't work. I'm not sure if this was because of the way it played out (ie. the double lynch fiasco of dead_bob and cool_drool on Day One, which resulted in a spiral of reveals of both the Reptiloids and the Greys) or just the fact that having two Mafia groups will ALWAYS pit them against each other, and let the town win, but it really did seem like the town was the pick to win after Day Two...

the google group for the dead was mostly inactive and nowhere near as fun as in Bodnoirbabe's game, which I think came from trying to include it IN the game. If I run another game, I plan to include just such a google group again, but not include it in the game itself.

All in all, though, everyone seemed to have fun, and until the end when I was stuck pulling multiple doubles in a row at work and trying to keep up with the game in the little free time I had, I felt I kept up with it pretty well. I think I'll stick to playing for a while, though. lol
theolypse said @ 11:34am GMT on 17th Oct
I think the two mobs could have worked, but it would have required fewer public investigative items. That was some powerful mojo, there.
cool_drool said @ 4:23pm GMT on 17th Oct
Great game. Yea, the "influential" dead group was fun for the first 3 days, then it got too many people in it, and too many factions vying for control of the message. After I got killed, it was funner just to read / keep up with the happenings than to try to garner enough info to send intelligent messages back that could be construed as benefitial to the human psychics, and yet help out my remaining faction members as well. Being dead definitely isnt easy in a scenerio like that.

Still, I really enjoyed my second game. Tried something different (to the constant agony of Brat#3 lol) and tried to be outspoken and vocal. Unfortunately, everything I did was while Brat#3 was posting responses to previous things / actions of mine, instead of just ignoring me, and that implicated us together. I didnt mind hanging myself, but I felt bad bringing the attention to Brat that way.

Go Grey! hehe
Silent said @ 4:53pm GMT on 17th Oct
I felt bad about revealing Brat's alien-ness, I'd actually hoped she'd be proved innocent but oh no, she had to go and be an alien for reals.
brat#3 said @ 9:56pm GMT on 17th Oct
:D it was bound to happen sooner or later. Memo to all though, I plan on relaxing quite a bit more in future games and putting Fun First, so don't get all anxious if I'm acting differently, I just want to start enjoying the games a bit more and not getting so worked up on details from day one.

Plus, if I can hold off on the analysis til day five or so hopefully I can just go "POW: THESE ARE ALL THE BAD GUYS" and actually have some chance of being right. :D I'm so dead by night three again aren't I.

Wait what am I saying, I'll be lynched on day three for sure now that Aids is running and not playing. I have stolen your day 3 lynch crown!!

Theo - if it hadn't been for not figuring out who the last alien was when I got down to my last three suspected humans, I may never have figured you out. I only started suspecting you yesterday and would definitely have investigated you last night (if for some reason it would have come to it).

This is what I plan to be my last game, at least for a while. Unless a topic really captures me for another game - it is why I wanted to put a little extra effort into this one :) I will be back, hopefully, after this semester ends.

Good luck to everyone until then.

I am very very sorry for killing you first night. I know that there was no way you could have known you were a psychic, but I swear I thought you were one. Weird. Anyway I did feel really bad for offing you since you didn't play last game and haven't had a long run for awhile. Most sincere apologies.
spite48 said @ 3:30pm GMT on 17th Oct
Oh, no hard feelings at all. I thought it was funny. I particularly thought it was funny because I debated signing up quite a bit. My second son arrives this Monday, and I knew that I wouldn't be as active in this game as I have been in the past, and I was pushing it with this sign-up.

It was kind of a relief to have the decision taken away. Besides, someone needs to bite it.

Thanks for thinking of me. ;)

Thanks for the game arch. I thought it was really well run, and the first couple of days were awesome fun.

I think it kind of lost momentum after a while, but I feel that was more to do with the fact that we were consistantly lynching the bad guys. Its our own fault for being so damn superb.

I DO plan to run another someday (if I can come up with a concept I want to run), but I've gotta focus on World of Warcraft for the next month (got a character to get to lvl 70 before the new expansion comes out), so I'll be sticking to playing for a while. :)

When you're knocking the back off her, can do the American psycho mirror wink/armflex and go "this one is for lilmookie baby!"

Nice work. I don't mind being on the losing side since the game was so fast-paced it remained interesting enough. I might've enjoyed it even more if my computer would stop acting around. Something to do with the mouse-port, leaving me to operate this piece of junk without a mouse for the last couple of days.

Anyhoo, it was great fun. Thanks, archangel2!

I had a good time (nom nom nom, grey meat is the best!) and what did we learn? Think twice and dont act on impulse when you see that double lynch just waiting there.

of course there were others who did the double lynch dip later in this game and they did not get strung up....
not that I am bitter (mumble mumble)

So, I've gone and read every google group and learned a lot from it. I loved the game Archangel, and I'm looking for a little feedback. I didn't trust Shizac, so I did steal his psi-probe. I slipped it into Mopy's pack in hopes that he didn't reveal this information (naive?). This way I could, if in trouble of a lynching, or even later in the day, do a reveal to the one confirmed human (publically, but privately, if you will) and then be safe. Then I got a double injury and did nothing but follow Nibbon as he went along after that. I give kudos to Shizac for his crazy day. I was stunned to read that I was to be targeted/was targeted by two different groups as possible baddies. I guess I'm glad I created some confusion. See you next game, and let me know if you have any thoughts that'll help me...

I wasn't the MVP. My whole team was, and I'll only accept it on their behalf.

Dead_bob, I actually shrieked at the monitor when I saw what you did at the end of D1. But you did such a fantastic job on D2, covering your tracks, that the rest of us were able to soak up the credibility you were hemorrhaging and come out smelling like roses.

Redemption was only suspected by a lunatic. I think that says enough right there.

Clavalla, Stension, great defensive playing, after about D2. You both did a superb job, in my estimation, of redeeming yourselves from your first two days of inactivity.

Jarringpeach was the biggest reason I looked so good, though. I invite people to read through the days again, comparing her comments to mine. I'd be surprised if, looking for it, anyone missed how often we tag-teamed people, or ideas, coming at them from directions just different enough to look unrelated. More than once, she set people up to make stupid mistakes so I could jump on them, and in return I used my obvious Human status to undercut people attacking her, albeit on different fronts.
It doesn't show in the google group, because she and I apparently talk a hell of a lot more about strategy than the rest of the team felt the need to, but a good 80% of both our comments, while she lived, were reviewed and approved by the other before posting. She kept me from saying stupid things and sabotaging myself, and I kept her from repeating the rest of our team and tying herself to them. For the first week and a half of the game, most of our pillow talk revolved around the next day's strategy. I'm going to miss that coordination in the next game.

Don't think this buys you any kind of credit, sir.

So, is there some unwritten rule about how many games you can play before having to let someone else take a short, or is it a "first come first serve" basis?

You know what? I actually wouldn't have minded getting killed in this game, what with the entire from the grave thing, I was only thinking a day or two back that if I didn't die soon I'd not get enough after-life action, but oh no, we had to win, you bastards.
