Where the hell is Matt (2008)

Matt dances around the world. It is quite artful this time.

Huh.

Is it bad that when I wandered in this posted, I was thinking of matt, SE's creator? And just where the hell is he anyway?
Baxter_UK said @ 9:33am GMT on 22nd Jun
Not doing this, I'm sure.
animus kadmon said @ 9:36am GMT on 22nd Jun
Likely got irritated that his creation only seemed good for goading him into stupid-ass Mac vs. PC debates.
sacrelicious said @ 10:01am GMT on 22nd Jun
but the point is it is good for that, and in the end that's what really matters.
Baxter_UK said @ 10:04am GMT on 22nd Jun
Bend over, I'll show you what end really matters.

mine? aww, I'm flattered!

Or cry "fucker"?

Wow....I wish I had that kind of time/money.
sacrelicious said @ 10:02am GMT on 22nd Jun
my thoughts exactly. I resent him soooooo much!
daboo said @ 10:39am GMT on 22nd Jun
Stride gum has been giving him a free ride around the world for the last couple of these videos
sacrelicious said @ 10:52am GMT on 22nd Jun
oh I see how it is: this heart-touching moment of global unity brought to you by corporate monoliths!
chdb said @ 6:36am GMT on 23rd Jun
You mean like most operas, plenty of museums, et cetera?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with corporate sponsorship of art or sport if the branding is kept tastefully off to one side, and you wouldn't know Stride sponsored this unless you did some research. That's the type of corporate citizenship we need more of, not less.
Resplendent_Elk said @ 12:44am GMT on 23rd Jun
Is there anyone here who wouldn't completely whore themselves out for the same opportunity?

I'd do anything short of travelling in a suit that makes me look like any kind of food.

With the possible exception of a sushi suit.

But that's it.
chdb said @ 11:46am GMT on 22nd Jun [Score:2 Insightful]
Well, the secret to Matt's trick is that he realized that pretty much anybody in the First World who doesn't have dependents does have that kind of time and money; he worked for three years, saved up money, then quit, stashed his stuff at family and friends' places, and just took off.

He travels very cheaply for the most part because he's willing to sleep and eat in non-luxurious surroundings, and as time went on the goodwill he generated paid him back tenfold. The corporate sponsorship just made the second trip happen sooner, that's all.

He's not doing anything that most people couldn't do, if they were so inclined. You want to spend a solid year traveling? Work hard for two years, don't waste money on booze/cigarettes/parties/digestible pop culture/et cetera, and do it.

Seriously. Realistically, we're living in the last decade when travel like this is still going to be economically possible. If you want to do it, do it. Nobody is stopping you but you.
conga said @ 12:51pm GMT on 22nd Jun

I envy his traveling around the world for years, though I don't envy the inevitable return home to no job or money in the bank.
Resplendent_Elk said @ 12:31am GMT on 23rd Jun
That's actually not bad. I did it once, stayed in my parents' house for a month until I found a job and an apartment, and then I was back to my old life.

It doesn't take much forethought to set this up, so it's a weak excuse not to travel.

Yes, be an internet star for fifteen minutes NOW! It is so worth it!

Or have fun, explore new places, learn new things, and fuck beautiful foreign (to you) women. And then post photos on SE. At least of the women. Naked.

If that was all you got out of that video, I pity you..

Dammit, now he has a corporate sponsor he just does the same 'safe' dance all the time. I miss the old Matt with his varied unco dances...

Still nifty, though.
