Because it might as well be real life when this poor guy finds out what you and your piece of shit co-workers went to great lengths to do. Damn, there I go breaking that rule again. You have to realize that the internet can't be used for this kind of bullshit if you ever want it to really bloom into what it could be. +1, because it is too easy to lose sight of the strange fact that the internet of full of real people with real feelings, just like one self. But satire has always been about cruelly mocking people from afar, and most modern satire is almost reverential compared to historical satire, like the cartoons of James Gillray. Bear isn't a powerful prince or politician or pundit, but he expresses the same self-important pomposity, and satire is a way of pricking pomposity. Bear probably doesn't deserve derision as a human being, but as a human being he deserves the kind of satirical smack-down that any one of us gets when we exhibit our failings in public. And are you doing anything the least different in your final paragraph? The best that the Internet can be is a true expression of the personalities of those who use it, which already range from base to the sublime. It's just not always possible to tell which is which. |
