Sensible Mushroom Kingdom, World 2-1

quote [ Good lord! The Sarcasm Canary... it's dead!

EVERYBODY OUT OF THE MINE!!!!!111!!12one ]

It seemed like as soon as I closed my eyes to sleep, it was morning and the Caravan was preparing for the day.

But it was a strange morning. The air seemed hazy and thick. I blamed my immense fatigue, but occassionally objects in my field of vision disappeared for a split second, and reappeared in a slightly different position. Was I going mad? Were my grief and the heavy burden of responsibility driving me over the edge? I had no answers. Only a body and a crater.

Narrenschiff had not survived the night. He had been crushed from above. His broken goggles would have revealed him to be Luigi even if his battered face hadn't.

The crater stood where CapnSilver had slept. We were resigned never to discover his identity, until an impossibly long arm was discovered up in a tree. Waluigi had followed his nemesis into the long night.

At this point I was approached by a shyguy who thanked me for the Mini-Mushroom I had given him. He told me it was delicious. I expressed concern, as eating both servings of a Mini-Mushroom in one sitting could upset the stomach. But I suppose I had greater worries than the digestion of those around me.

After all, the old koopa shipyards stood between us and the inland sea. The industrial complex was destroyed after one of Bowser's failed coups, but the ruins remained as a grim reminder of war. Still, it was a no-man's land and we wouldn't be in any more danger than we'd been thus far. And I was determined that we reach the sea beyond. Perhaps this fel enchantment didn't reach beyond it. It was a small shot, but one we had to take.

justus walked by me, rubbing the bruise on his head and cursing that "fucking cheap-ass red shell bullshit." I shrugged and reread the letter written to me last night somberly.

Toadsworth,

He is gone, and with him my heart, and my hopes of salvation.

What am I without a Mario? What are any of us?

Pixels and static.

Nothing.

Sensible Hollywood also had two splodeys, each with a variable kill numbers. One splodey killed the first voter + 7, the other splodey the first voter + 9 (for day kills only; night kills were different).

...I wonder what a game would be like if all the baddies were splodeys...

Sleep deprivation. I started a new job on Monday. My sleep schedule has gone from falling asleep about 3 am, to now waking up at 6 am. I got about three hours of sleep last night, worked eight hours today, then walked around town for three hours 'cause my wife wanted to go out to eat and do a bit of shopping. Then I got home, figured out the riddle, and for some reason clicked on the name *under* the question, rather than the name *above* it.

A.) what would it benefit the townies to know who the princess is?
With no protector left we can't stop you from kidnapping her anyway.

B.) Neither town nor Koopas win if the entity avoids exposure so it's in your best interest to share that info anyway.

If the Koopas don't use this opportunity to share info with the town before you're lynched this evening then they're just shooting themselves in the foot ... after all, if Bowser goes after the entity alone and it turns out to be Bob-omb laying subtle bait then the town will be that much closer to winning.
Come to think of it ... if Bowser moves on his suspicions alone and he's right it benefits the town and if he's wrong it may benefit the town too.
So how is your offer worth anything to anyone but Bowser?
Aidentas said @ 3:44pm GMT on 8th Feb

Ok, so you're saying that the Koopalings know who Peach is and have a reasonable suspicion of the entitys identity but that you don't communicate with Bowser.
Thanks for that, It's been in debate as to whether the koopalings run errands/night kills for Bowser and I think you've given us some insight into this.

Still, the remaining Koopalings need to take out the entity if they want to win ... and they get night kills.
So, if I may repeat myself, what makes any of the info you are offering of any value to the town?

If you're looking to be the towns pet Koopaling then you should give up Bowser so that everyone can test your trustworthiness .... hell, it would at least buy you one more day ... and you can turn out Peach and the entity on successive days for continued life.
Note: do not out Peach before Bowser, that will just get you lynched as fast as possible.

There's a bit of validity to the thought, really. Neither side can win unless the mysterious entity is destroyed. It is a common enemy.

But if the Koopas have an idea of who the mysterious entity is, they can just kill it off by themselves. I don't know that we necessarily have much to gain by letting Aids live. And a temporary cease-fire probably serves them more than us.
Ashura_Stephanos said @ 7:20am GMT on 9th Feb
What if the entity is immune to night kills?
kishi said @ 7:35am GMT on 9th Feb
Then Aids should just say, straight out, who they think it is, so we can lynch them tomorrow. Unless Aids is telling us that the Koopas are going to capitulate and let the entity win the game by doing what they can to protect it from a lynch unless we let Aids live (which is foolish) than there is no reason to trade Aidentas for their suspicions of the mysterious entity identity.

It's like this: Either they know, or they don't. If they know, either they can kill him/her/it at night, or they can't. If they can't, they're going to have to reveal the name at some point anyway so that a lynch can be arranged. I don't see why letting Aidentas live would affect that logic.

Sorry, Aids. If you've got the information, share. Otherwise, it doesn't serve us much good to negotiate with you. In fact, we're better off if we leave it to the Koopas to kill the entity- that means we can focus our lynches on hunting you bastards down.
Aidentas said @ 7:45am GMT on 9th Feb
No time to negotiate; I'm dead in 40 seconds!

Right now, in my opinion, it looks like a Wart victory is likely. Good luck to all parties.

I love you all Marta.

That's funny I tried to read it out loud to my roommate though and I found as I was reading more and more of your comment I found that there was no punctuation to allow me to naturally stop and take a bit of a breath so I ended up trailing off a bit at the end because I wasn't pacing myself right and he didn't quite hear the end right but then I read it back like Christopher Walken because he takes all of his scripts and erases the punctuation to form his own speech patterns and anyway I've heard a theory that punctuation is unnecessary and a waste of time what do you think of that thought?

Aidentas
theluckysean 1 (Caffeine)

People who have not voted for Aidentas: (rattus, mego, badgerbaiter, FifthSpango, KingPellinore, theluckysean)

The Caravan angrily marched Aidentas to me, while Caffeine pushed theluckysean out next to the mortician. I told theluckysean that he could go rejoin his friends. He gave a look of shyguyish irritation at Caffeine, but was then clocked by a blue shell!

"Ow! What the Hell? Who threw that?"

No one stepped forward to own up to the deed, and so I turned my attention back to Aidentas.

I was angry.

"You. You're a Koopa. I know you are. Luigi knew it, and he paid the ultimate price. You people murdered Mario. You murdered his brother, and other innocents.

"You murdered my nephew."

I turned away from him, ashamed of the rage I was feeling.

"You're lucky that I cannot make you suffer as you deserve." My fists were clenched tightly around my walking stick, my eyes were shut. "You're lucky I have no-"

A loud gasp rose from the members of the Caravan. I spun around and witnessed... something impossible. Aidentas was being torn apart! Little bits of color were being ripped away from him as if by an unseen force.

He screamed a sound of pure agony. "Make it stop! Pleeeeeeease. I admit it! I'm Wendy O. Koopa! I'll do anything! Just make it stoooooooop!"

And then, moments later, it did stop. There was nothing left of her.

Shaken, I walked to my tent. I felt the oppressive silence, and the weight of the entire caravan's stare.

Is there a clue in this?
I mean apparently we now have a minor plague of people getting hit in the head with shells but they don't seem to do anything else but give em a bump on the old noggin so I can live with that I guess, but what's up with the manner of Aidentases death?
I suppose it's not too different from the previous lynching where someone got killed by an "angry sun" but I don't know enough about Mario games to make any sense out of this ... anyone?
sythe said @ 9:11am GMT on 9th Feb
Well, if this is all toadsworth's dream then maybe he's got some influence over it. Hate someone enough and they just melt away. Alternatively, he may have just been describing how bosses dissipated on the old NES.
-_- said @ 9:48am GMT on 9th Feb
I suspect the latter as it's exactly the kind of thing I'm ignorant of about these games.
Dismortis said @ 8:53am GMT on 9th Feb
I don't know what's stranger. That people are getting pelted with shells, or that they don't seem to be doing anything.
juju said @ 9:00am GMT on 9th Feb
Maybe the shells only kill baddies? But that would be dangerous to assume I guess. From skainsmate's post on the consolation prizes (in world 1-4), both the shells have been used, but the banana peel is still in play, whatever that does.
sythe said @ 9:10am GMT on 9th Feb
Or maybe the shells really don't do anything. Skainsmate added them in as an extra bonus for the people that didn't quite make the mini-mushroom cut, so maybe he didn't want to fuss with the game mechanics too much. On the other hand, someone has to be throwing them for a reason I would think.
-_- said @ 9:44am GMT on 9th Feb
So it's been justus and theluckysean that have gotten pelted.
justus at night and theluckysean during the day.

justus vote .... comment pattern
day 1. headlessfriar .... 2 comments
day 2. mwoody ........... 6 comments .... Cap accuses
day 3. Aidentas ......... no comments
day 4. Aidentas ......... asked Aidentas one question
day 5. Aidentas ......... no comments

theluckysean vote .... comment pattern
day 1. assbastard ....... no comments
day 2. Aidentas ......... no comments
day 3. no vote .......... no comments .... 4 lynch votes
day 4. Narrenschiff ..... no comments

The only thing that seems at all interesting in this is that theluckysean was voted for by both Aidentas and Jewbacchus on day 3 (along with headlessfriar and Caffeine)when Aidentas was one of the lynch leaders ... both of which voted for Aidentas on day 4 when Jewbacchus was lynched.
I suppose there's the possibillity that theluckysean is the highest ranking Koopa and Aidentas was trying (with the help of Jewbacchus) to make him seem less suspicious by voting against his continued survival (the last few votes of a cornered bad guy can be powerfully applied to deflect suspicion from others) but none of that would explain the shells.
-_- said @ 9:46am GMT on 9th Feb

Dismortis said @ 11:10am GMT on 9th Feb
I don't think anyone has been kicked from the game. Skainsmate would have updated the names. And given we're going into day six, it's kind of late to do so. Seriously, we need a blacklist for this sort of shit.
Narrenschiff said @ 11:39am GMT on 9th Feb
Yes, but I'd say the blacklist should be for those who don't vote and don't talk at all-- I think that keeping low while voting is a legitimate tactic for specials, townies, and baddies alike.

On the other hand, skainsmate did say he'd have little patience for "lying low" in the registration post.
Context said @ 2:24pm GMT on 9th Feb
I think there's a difference between "lying low" and being inactive. Hard to really draw a line of distinction, but I like to think that I am more along the lines of lying low. Usually until the fifth or sixth day, when I'll start to be a bit more talkative.

I usually do try to comment here and there, even if it isn't strategy. Way I see it, if I start throwing around accusations, that just gets attention drawn to me, when I'm not really quite certain what I'm even talking about.

That all being said... why did Caffeine vote for sean?
justus said @ 3:39pm GMT on 9th Feb
Man, did I really only leave two comments on day 1? I've been trying to be more active than I usually am (past games I feel like I typically just vote), but I guess I'm not very good at it.

I'd also like an explanation of what the shell did, because all the PM said was that it gave me a nasty bruise. Maybe it's just like the rubber ball from the OMGWTF mafia game played earlier (i.e. a gag item).
Context said @ 4:35pm GMT on 9th Feb
