Haha, he's not the worst I've heard. Basically there is a bunch of shit that requires people to pay attention and do what they need to do with precision. If someone fucks up, no on is happy with them. That means when you hear him yelling there are 23 other people who are all /agree and laughing at the guy to fucked up. If you're the fuckup then you'll either emo-out and quit in which case people say good riddance to the emo-fuckup-up, or you'll pull your head out of your ass, fix your shit, and not get yelled at. It's like a competitive football team: if you suck the coach yells at you, yet people still play and still consider it fun.

This isn't a competitive football team. Your talking about an online game. In this scenario, your much more like an office team, and if anyone yells at me like that, I'd quit the team, or sabotage.

Its not emo-shit, its treating people decently. I know on the internet its accepted to be a jerk-off to most people, but I refuse to be in that environment. I'm not saying that I shouldn't do my best, or I shouldn't be critiqued, but to scream at someone like that shows either emotional problems, or someone who likes doing it because it gets him attention/ shifts his own failures away from himself onto you. In any event, I don't want any of it, and I'd leave the coterie not because of emo-shit, but because I know they're are groups out their who won't treat their comrades so poorly.

I don't play online games, so maybe its a an online player thing I don't and will never understand, but you don't get people to be competent and work with you by yelling at them. The guy already knew he made a mistake, he doesn't need to pull his head out of his ass, he just needs to decide if he wants to take that kind of abuse over a game. Its weird to me anyone would.

There are "office teams" in WoW and there are "pro teams" in WoW. You (and me) may not agree that WoW is a worthwhile thing to spend 40 hours a week on but some people do. Just like some people spend way more than 40 hours a week practicing whatever sport that want to be the best in.

The top guilds in WoW have applications and waiting lists. People don't play in them for "a relaxed good time" they play to be the best in the game. If you ended up in, for example, Death and Taxes and you screw up, then you'll get chewed out. The big boys deal with it, the cry babies go home (err, log out since they are already home).

When you say stuff like "This isn't a competitive football team. Your talking about an online game." it's exactly like me walking up to a highly ranked football team and saying "Hey, this is a game where you throw a little ball around, quit being so fucking serious and have fun." In other words, you sound like an idiot.

If you are tempted to say "well pro football is big money" then you are just emphasizing how serious people can take something that is just a game.

Problem is that it's generally not like an office team where everyone knows each other and has a lot of IRL contact. You'll get small groups of people, but for the most part contact is entirely online.

If you like Battlefield then you could try the 'realitymod'. IMO it's far better. Less random bullshit chatter, much more adult. As a newbie I fucked up here and there and knew it, no one screamed. Just pointed out where I'd got it wrong. EG "Hey Random.. come to my position and wait. We'll go in together when the north bridge is covered." It forces team work. Basically it's fucking excellent.

Another one is Arma. I don't have the graphics to play it which is shit. But a highly regarded game.

OTOH if you don't like Battlefield you could always try tetris, if your graphics are a bit lame, pong.

more precisely the video was an ad, from the "Believe" series of pseudo-viral ads that were made for Halo 3, based around the idea that you are visiting a museum commemorating the end of the war shown in Halo. There is no actual game footage, the closest you get to is a diorama of one of the battles.
