Sensible Howling II - Return to Lupensbrusch - Day 11

Day 11 Begins in Lupensbrusch

The sun is barely visible through the thick fog that rolled over the town during the night.

It is the perfect setting for murder.

“… and that’s right, Madam Kippers. There’s nary a wolf to be seen ever since that old miser Kimota was found killed in his own house.” Mayor VictorTyne strolls through the fog-filled streets, talking to the space beside him. “Them old wolves probably went to ground, you know. Hiding, as it were. Or they could be lurking in the fog, waiting to jump out and maul unsuspecting passers-by. But don’t you fret none…”

The Mayor leads his invisible companion into the town square. “Would you like to wind the Death Clock for me, Madam Kippers? I don’t want to put any strain on your delicate wrists, but the Death Clock needs to be wound, oh yes it does. Otherwise how will the rest of the town know when their deadline is? Ahaha! DEADline! Get it? DEADline! Oh, I’m so witty!”

Erm. Okay then. I'm going with M.Sartre as he claims he's an investigator, and it would be nice to believe him.

Also Blackmage Because he said this; http://www.sensibleerection.com/comment.php/68538/1217935. And there have been two nights since. There also seems to be a decrease in the "bored" posts in those two nights, and a vote for himself, which could well be a diversionary tactic.

nothing exactly solid, but if anyone has better ideas then I'm all ears (of Oats).

Hmmm... so Blackmages Reveal DOES explain the message I pointed out. Which is convenient, but plausible. I don't know, but I do tend to believe BM, and the time for caution is long past, nothing happens anyway, so whatever...

I'm gonna switch my votes to M Satre; becuase he is potential much more damaging if his role reveal is a lie. And Macst34 because he's been very quiet.
ThirdSpango said @ 6:56pm GMT on 12th Dec

solitude said @ 1:51am GMT on 12th Dec
Since M.Sartre's revelation yesterday I think it's wise to test him today. If he turns out trustworthy we get three tests everyday instead of two. However we do need to know if we can trust him. So I propose to test him regularly so his trust can remain guaranteed.

I vote for M.Sartre and Macst34.

The second because I don't really have a better suggestion, and instead of voting for myself again (i'll do that tomorrow, don't worry) I think it's important to at least vote for someone who might be infected. I find it more plausible that low-key figures are infected than the more vocal people that keep turning up in votes regularly. So that's why someone like macst34, justus, loc, etc. seems a good choice.
Alacron said @ 3:47am GMT on 12th Dec
I vote to test M.Sartre because his investigations could prove useful to us town 'foke, if he is on our side.

For my second vote is for Eru because he has been a little quiet for my liking since he was tested the first time.

FifthSpango said @ 12:32am GMT on 12th Dec
Test results are (and have been) posted in the day the test was voted on. Yesterday was Dothedrew and Dooming Doom; both of whom were innocent.

The lack of kills is a frustrating nightmare, probably best explained as a joke on all involved...

FifthSpango said @ 2:09am GMT on 12th Dec
I agree with you Talisan, for the most part. But the lack of activity has been widely commented on and derided (for better or for worse). It seems a little unfair to single out Klayto when it's what alot of people are saying.
talisan said @ 2:12am GMT on 12th Dec
Oh, I know. The only reason he got singled out is he passed my patience meter is considering he's a lurker (like me). I can understand the frustration to everyone playing, because they don't know what's going on, but everyone else? For blarg's sake, patience please. I'm interested to see how this ends my own self.

You know what? Fuck you.

I spent a lot of time and effort (including three days of statistical analysis) to come up with a new and different game for these people to play. I even consented to run two games when more people than I had planned for wanted to play. And I've gotten nothing but flak since I did it.

All I see these days is a bunch of whine posts. "Oh, this game is too hard!" "This is boring." "Nothing's happening." If I wanted to put up with that bullshit, I'd log into World of Warcraft. It reminds me of nothing so much as the netkiddies who scream "leveling takes to long, nerf this class because I can't play my own, I want to be all powerful and pwn everyone."

Well, guess what? I'm not Blizzard. I'm not giving out free head pats and handjobs to every kiddie too stupid to play the easiest game on the planet just because they make a forum post. I've already said this once: if you can't hack it, then quit.

And if you're not playing, then shut the fuck up.

This is dam hard work and I enjoy the mafia games a lot and I even have a few ideas for some of my own. But frankly I know how much work goes into this and VT's changes is another level again I'm sure.

Personally I'm happy with how things are going, there is a mystery and I'm sure we have to be close to a win, just by time spent. Frankly the only change I'd make to this game is shorter Day/Night cycles or possibly the same countdown timer for both day and night. So that my lonely nights pass faster, and we start the day with a new post right after the old death clock runs out.

I'm not swayed on testing MSartre every night.

We've got no way of knowing he is what he says he is, as the mayor has never revealed roles through testing, we have to trust him on blind faith alone. All we can do is eliminate any motive to mislead by testing him tonight, and then randomly thereafter.

There are a lot of players that are voting, and doing little else. They may be trying to slip unnoticed into the crowd and mill amongst us, or they may have their own reasons.

One of my votes will be for MSartre, the other for one of those that lurks in the shadows of the town.

I'm not sure why I've become suspicious, other than being vocal, but by all means vote for me.

It seems like a waste though.
If confirmed, BlackMage and M. Sartre would give us enough information to almost definitely lynch a wolf tomorrow. M. Sartre essentially gives a third test, as stated, and BlackMage can be trusted to tell us in what direction to vote. If not confirmed, all is well.

At day 11, estimating 1 original wolf* and 1 infection a day, that would leave 7 wolves amongst us. Meaning we need to kill a wolf tonight or tomorrow in order to survive.

*I know there had to be more, but if blackmage is telling the truth, chances are there have been one or two failed infections resulting in wolf deaths, and I accounted for it there.
Eru said @ 3:02pm GMT on 12th Dec
I'll tell you why I, at least, am suspicious of you. On day 1, we got a were wolf and confirmed a friendinnocent. We know A friend didn't get infected so they must have bitten someone who had yet to be tested. Obviously that wolf is now dead. However it would have become apparent shortly after that, that the town was going to test through the list until we'd done everyone.
http://www.sensibleerection.com/comment.php/68304/1209040

It therefore stands to reason that sometime within the first few days, wolves started to infect people after they had been tested. Following that theory, we should be looking at people who were tested in the first few days. Those people are... Jewbacchus, Teddd, Blackmage, Philby and solitude. According to this helpful post by philistine.

I guess we'll just have to keep retesting the earlier confirmeds until we get something of substance?

"...when you've got a happy killing song..." The Mayor dances about the two potential victims, vultures circling merrily overhead in synchronized patterns while little sewer rats pass nails and lumber from paw to paw down a line that stretches through the town to supply the one-eyed bunny rabbit that's building a pair of coffins.

((Sorry, got back from seeing Enchanted today. Amy Adams + Making fun of Disney = EPIC WIN.))

"So, 12 votes for M.Sartre. My my, aren't we the popular one? Must have been that little 'coming out" of yours, eh? Well you don't let them bother you, Mister Carpenter. You don't be afraid to be who you are, especially when who you are is Innocent!"

"So, maybe the town will trust that you are who you say you are. Too bad I have to brand M.Sartre for non-participation. I imagine that'll make some of the other innocents' butts clench, knowing that not only are they a step away from losing a potential investigator, but that the potential investigator might not even be around tonight."

"And now, who do we have here? Aww, poor BlackMage. He had a coming out of his own, but he only got 5 votes. And that wicked moonshiner only got one fewer! How awful that must feel for you, especially when you've been Innocent all this time!"

"Well don't worry, sunshine! I'm sure you'll have your day in the spotlight. The spotlight of a full moon as the wolves tear you into teeny little bits and then jump up and down upon them to remove what might be a threat to whatever it is they're doing... Oh well, sleep tight!"
M.Sartre said @ 8:26pm GMT on 12th Dec
Sorry, I was out.

Eru is innocent.
I've decided not to go in running order, but instead, switch my order around a little, and let everyone know the result of my night's testing as early as I can in the day. There still is nothing to substantiate the infection theory, but we've been through everybody and all we know is that there is a protector role that kills a werewolf if it does attack. (Problem being there have been no attacks.)
