Sensible Howling II - Return to Lupensbrusch - Day 6 - Alternate Universe

quote [ The full moon has set. This morning, the sun shines upon the town of Lupensbrusch once more. ]

Day 6 Begins in the Alternate Universe

The full moon has set. This morning, the sun shines upon the town of Lupensbrusch once more.

Mayor VictorTyne is sitting on his front porch, polishing his gun. As the townsfolk gather in the square, he yells out “HEY! Who the shit do I have to kill to get some breakfast around here? C’mon! Mayor wants bacon and eggs! And hurry up with those two test victims. I’ve got an itchy trigger finger today!”

Shiney and Misanthrope. I, too, am following some hunches. ABOUT PEOPLE THAT OWE ME SOME FUCKING MONEY!

TheCooler and shiney things.

I still want to see Zelgius tested. 2nd vote goes to Misanthrope, just because.

Misanthrope for being untested and unvetted, gmg for being untested and taking a swing at me.
headlessfriar, ok lumberjack said @ 2:22am GMT on 3rd Dec
Zelgius, because I wanted totest him yesterday and didn't get to. Also, Assbastard has been more quiet than usual this game. Sure, he was loud as Chewy in Jedi, but I never trust anyone quiet. Maybe he's all hairy and shaggy again here.
gmg said @ 3:18am GMT on 3rd Dec
I'll go for Zelgius and Misanthrope.
gmg said @ 5:28am GMT on 3rd Dec
Actually, I'll stay will Misanthrope , however, I assume he's innocent. I want to try Shiney Things because in a sense this might test both Redemption and Nick. If Shiney Things is innocent, we know nothing, but then I feel just as impassionate about Zelgius being innocent too. If Shiney Things is a wolf, then it doesn't mean that Nick and Redemption are wolves, but it may lead to some more interesting conclusions.
gmg said @ 1:17pm GMT on 3rd Dec
Well seems like people want Zelgius more than Misanthrope, and as I dont care either way I'll change. Shiney Things stays though.
Todomanna said @ 3:40am GMT on 3rd Dec
I feel like joining a bandwagon today... Zelgius, Misanthrope
Todomanna said @ 7:36am GMT on 3rd Dec
I'm going from Misanthrope to Shiney Things. It does seem that mostly untested seemed to vote first for the bandwagon starting.

Though I still don't trust Nick. If only because he seems to be an authority figure, and as a tortured artist, I must keep my distance from such people, to stay tortured and un-funded.
Nick said @ 7:39am GMT on 3rd Dec

Zelgius and Misanthrope two untested, works for me.
kishi said @ 5:07am GMT on 3rd Dec
Shiney things, 'cause I keep getting distracted, and Misanthrope, 'cause why the hell not.
skainsmate said @ 5:17am GMT on 3rd Dec
Well, Nick says redemption is innocent. And redemption claims to be following hunches. Anytime a confirmed innocent talks about hunches, I assume they have special powers. So I'm voting for Zelgius and Misanthrope.
Nick said @ 5:34am GMT on 3rd Dec
I can see the logic in voting for Zelgius, as he narrowly escaped the testing wand yesterday. I can't see where this bandwagon for Misanthrope has come from though, and if he's innocent I suspect lupine guidance. My second vote is for TheCooler, who seems to have been fairly quiet as of late.
Nick said @ 7:45am GMT on 3rd Dec
Current count as of 19:45 GMT:

Misanthrope 9
Zelgius 8
Shiney Things 5
TheCooler 2
Gmg 1
Assbastard 1

i vote zelgius and misanthrope

it's easier than thinking
juju said @ 11:34am GMT on 3rd Dec
I'm still suspicious of shiney things. Since that vote won't really effect the outcome, and neither will my second vote with any probability, I'll cast my second for Zelgius who I suspect of general buggery.

Zelgius and Shiney things

Eeep, almost missed it.

I don't have any ideas of my own today, so I'll just go along with the bandwagon. Zelgius and Misanthrope.
redemption said @ 9:48pm GMT on 2nd Dec
*Saucily takes some bacon and eggs over for the mayor*

Any chance of an updated list so we can see who's left?

Secondly, wtf!? Still no wolfie inspired deaths?! What's going on?
Zelgius said @ 11:02pm GMT on 2nd Dec
You mean a list of people we haven't tested yet? Here you go.

assbastard
daffyduck
Misanthrope
redemption
shiney things
TheCooler
Zelgius

Also headlessfriar and gmg, but Nick said they're innocent, and I see no reason to doubt his word at the moment.
daffyduck said @ 11:56pm GMT on 2nd Dec
I'm willing to go with the infection-theory, so I'm not really sure if I trust Nick at this point anymore. He got tested back in Day 3, so for all we know he could've become a wolf any night after that, and his list of Innocents might contain one or more wolves.
shiney things said @ 2:49am GMT on 3rd Dec
additionally in past games, the baddie leader has been immune to investigation. we have to remember that nicks list is not fool proof.

because there is no risk of killing innocents, it would be unwise not to retest the people nick tested. at the very least those who we ourselves have not tested.
headlessfriar said @ 3:21am GMT on 3rd Dec
I'm still opposed to retesting people, but checking myself and gmg, the only 2 on Nick's list the mayor hasn't tested, is fine by me.
gmg said @ 2:43pm GMT on 3rd Dec
Although I don't necessarily doubt Nick's word...

Assuming the infection theory is correct (so we are assuming a lot), if infected I'd bet you keep whatever power you had. Nick revealed the day after he was confirmed innocent, which makes sense because then people would trust him. However, if the infection theory is right, he might have been confirmed town that day, and then bitten that night.

This is all speculation, but since we don't know anything for sure I'm wary to try to believe something. I realize he verified me as innocent, which I am, and if anyone doubts it they can check me, but it's a waste. I just don't think we should assume anything.
gmg said @ 2:45pm GMT on 3rd Dec
grah. I just saw Daffyducks post. So basically, yea I agree with him.
headlessfriar, ok lumberjack said @ 2:38am GMT on 3rd Dec [Score:1 Insightful]
I figured it out! It's not werewolves, it's "Where, wolves?" Typographical error led to the whole misunderstanding here.
Nick said @ 3:58am GMT on 3rd Dec
Or mebbe it's 'were wolves'. There were some wolves the first time around, and in a tragic misunderstanding we've assumed there still are.
kishi said @ 5:06am GMT on 3rd Dec
There, there wolves.

There castle.
Nick said @ 3:26am GMT on 3rd Dec
Well, I'm surprised to be alive today. I thought for certain that night kills would begin last night under the full moon.

And in more evidence of my hunches being shit, redemption is innocent. Though I did get a highly erotic PM from VictorTyne describing me spying on the lovely masseuse. ;)

So, I'm looking for opinions (from confirmed innocents only, please, no offence to the untested but I don't want to be led astray) on whom I should track tonight.
skainsmate said @ 5:13am GMT on 3rd Dec
Well, it looks like Zelgius and Misanthrope are getting Tested today, but I myself (and a few other people) would like to know what's up with shiney things.

Please track her tonight.
Zelgius said @ 5:33am GMT on 3rd Dec
I'll second the motion to track shiney things. And yes, I know I'm not a confirmed innocent yet, but I will be at the end of the day. That's good enough, right?
Nick said @ 5:36am GMT on 3rd Dec
I can PM my tracking request after the testing results, so yeah, if you're innocent I'll bear your opinion in mind.
redemption said @ 12:49pm GMT on 3rd Dec

Alrighty.

Since game-related activity seems pretty low today, I figured I'd ask which have been everyone's favorite mafia games this past year.

My favorites:

Best Setting - Sensible Spacestation
The whole steam-driven space journey thing was a lot of fun. I liked getting in character in that setting.

Strongest Powerplay - Sensible Hollywood
Context pretending to be a paparazzo after both died secured the win for his team. Gambits like this help encourage healthy paranoia and distrust in games long after they've been executed. The fake PM from Narrenschiff in Sensible Jedi took similar balls and helped his team recover from the early loss of Mara Jade, but ultimately lacked the game-winning power of Context's earlier bluff.

Most Dramatic Endgame - Sensible Seamen
The tension mounted throughout the game as the Deep Ones- err, I mean, the Poseidon worshipers- began their feud with the Pirates, the Cap'n betrayed the GM but gave his loyal crewmembers a fighting chance through overly-complex voting, and the disgruntled first mate destroyed a mast and left a dire warning in flames on the deck. I sort of accidentally kind of got us all blown to smithereens by bandwagoning him, and an unconscious Cap'n was dragged into the lifeboat. The final incorrect lynch countered by a dramatic gunshot... all of this together managed to edge Sensible Seamen past its main competition for most dramatic ending: Sensible Howling.

Most Engrossing Story - Sensible Innsmouth
I wasn't too excited about a Cthulu-based mafia game, until it started. Then I became part of something was just as much art as leisure. The addition of riddles and items to the gameplay helped to propel it in my mind to:

To be honest, I haven't been keeping too much track of games I wasn't in.

Funniest Running Joke - Sensible Jedi
Laughs were had by Sith and observering parties alike as the Jedi went on a murderous rampage, massacring the very townspeople they were supposed to be protecting

Strongest Powerplay - Sensible Mafia
For sheer balls, it has to go to VictorTyne turning in one of his own to gain the town's trust

Yes, it's those twats who come into mafia games and downmod them without realising that you can just filter the bloody things if you don't like them.

Best Sensible Mafia Game of 2007 - Sensible Howling

To be fair, I'd like to know how that's any different from 90% of vigilantes in this game.
Nick said @ 1:24pm GMT on 3rd Dec
Oh no, I didn't mean it like that.

Vigilantes are going to get it wrong more often than right, and we shouldn't expect the Jedi to have done any better. I think people just found it funny as the supposedly just and honourable Jedi were cast in a role that involved wandering the town and murdering anyone who looked at them the wrong way.

Best Sensible Mafia Game of 2007 - Sensible Howling (seamen)
I loved watching howling, but the best one i actually played was seamen. The splodey was extraordinary.

I feel like the category for Best game play and Best player need to be mentioned. I also feel like this should be a separate post instead of a diversion of this game.

Best Detective Work - Dioxin, Sensible Seamen
If you played Sensible Seamen, you would know how good (or lucky; mostly good) Dioxin was in determining who was pirate, and who was 'Splodey.

Best Ending - Sensible Howling
No comments necessary. There's a reason we have "Total Bastards."

Best Use of Superlative Information - Sensible Innsmouth
For a game where the best item, the Cryptonomicon, didn't come into play, the daily puzzles were as much a highlight as the writing. eightysix should be rightfully commended for the level and detail he put into each days' puzzles.

Most Oustanding Meltdown - CapnSilver, GM of Sensible Sopranos
Internet yelling? Check. Hate Hate Hate? Check. Making a post to ask if people should be removed from the game? Check. Loituma? Check. <3? Check.
