quote [ Awwh, shit. I was so hoping I could stay under the radar. ]
And then there were four.
With morning and the coming of the cocks crow came the breaking of fast and the counting of heads.
[mafia game] [by -_-@6:31amGMT] [+8 Good] After the events of the last evening and some of the sounds in the night it was expected that this morning might be more somber than most ... but that was before anyone had left their cabins. The mood in the passageways was mixed while some moved as if the gallows awaited them while others seemed positively giddy ... something was amiss. It became apparent that Hipatitis! had gone missing in the night as soon as the Arboretum had been reached for strewn across the central table were many jars and retorts bubbling and hissing with all his disparate pieces contained therein and tubes aplenty connecting them to one another ... but it appeared that even the Clockwork Killer could not keep the head alive long enough to greet us .... but appearances can be deceiving. As the table is approached the eyes of Dr. Hipatitis! opened wide and the mouth began to work as a faint sound built in volume until the macabre visage of Dr. Hipatitis! lip syncing to a recording of Ms. shiney things singing an aria had so completely overwhelmed the senses as to make madness a preferable alternative to a sane and rational perception of the world and its multitudinous horrors. Dr. Hipatitis the Innocent will not be with us anymore. But as the barkers of Piccadilly Square are wont to say ... "But Wait! ... there's more." And then the incongruities of the Arboretums decor begin to strike home as it is noticed that there appears to be a more mechanical theme to this part of the ship than is it's usual case. Near every surface of the superstructure is covered in gears of various sizes as well as the pinions and struts of a complex device. Apon examination it is seen that these artifacts are adhered to the surfaces via a simple wheat paste which is more than competent to hold such delicately machined contrivances aloft for perusal. In exploring the decor certain discoveries are made which begin to lead the eye upwards to where the main trusses beneath the crystalline dome converge and suspend the chandelier ... and there is discovered what remains of Mr. McBitch aka the Clockwork Killer , for his head has been suspended from the central shaft of the chandelier and clock hands affixed to his face as some morbid pun ... a pun that plays out too far when his mouth opens to reveal a stuffed canary sewn to his toungue and the sound of the hour being struck arises from somewhere within his skull. KylemcBitch the Clockwork Killer hath expired. ____________________________________________________________ Hipatitis!............Innocent Killed by Clockwork 13ullet...............Luddite Killed by Clockwork Jewbacchus......Investigator Spaced by majority Stratafyre...........Son of Martha Killed by Luddites Context..............Innocent Killed by Luddites BlackMage.........Consultant to Royalty skainsmate.........Assistant Engineer qtemo.................Innocent Killed by Clockwork eightysix.............Physical Phillosopher from the Royal Academy fedhax................The Hunter Spaced by majority oranges..............Son of Martha Killed by Clockwork kylemcBitch........Clockwork Killer Killed by Luddites shiney things.......Handgun Owner Spaced by majority DeadAlbino.........Innocent Spaced by majority DefianceFalcon...War Hero ____________________________________________________________ Day 1:http://sensibleerection.com/entry.php/66781 Day 2:http://sensibleerection.com/entry.php/66813 Day 3:http://sensibleerection.com/entry.php/66859 Day 4:http://sensibleerection.com/entry.php/66883 ____________________________________________________________ This day will end at its latest on the hour of 10am Monday morning PST |

Well, I have here with me a note telling me to wrap it up. We are 2 Luddites strong. My partner, who will make himself known to you at his discretion, and myself will vote for one of you, while you futilely vote for either me or my partner to make a double lynch, and whoever is left will kill the last innocent in the night. I had to tell a few lies to get my way, and I wonder if I could have persuaded DefianceFalcon to let us win with our remaining numbers intact. One can only wonder. We are victorious. Long live the Queen. |

by way of explanation to those who are new to these endeavors or are simply unclear allow me to indulge in a little extrapolation. The best that the Innocents could hope for this evening is that they both vote for a Luddite while the Luddites both vote for an Innocent ... thus triggering a double lynch. This would leave one Innocent and one Luddite going into the night phase of the game. And that would mean by morning there would be only the Luddite aboard the HMSS ERECTOR. The worse case scenario for the Innocents would be if one of them was tricked into voting with the Luddites as this would result in two Luddites and one Innocent going into the night phase of the game. And that would mean there would be two Luddites to greet the dawn on board the HMSS ERECTOR The only way for the innocents to win at this point would be for the Luddites to bow out of the game or start voting against one another for some reason ... both possibilities of such low order as to be non existent. |

As noted before there were some of high spirits with the coming of morning and Mr. eightysix of The Royal Academy was amongst the most cheerful. "My dear fellows" he intoned "surely you realize that the path of progress leads only to mans destruction and enslavement to the very technology we so steadily seek out at this time in our histories! Surely you see that as we grow we continue to lay waste to the world around us? How far into the country side must one travel these days to find water apon the ground which may be safely consumed? How tightly do we pack the workers together in our cities so that a labor force is always available ... and desperate enough to sacrifice their humanity for base survival? Can none of you see where this leads us? Imagine great cities of glass and steel, as portrayed by our artist, shining in the sunlight ... how many souls shall be contained in each of these metropoli ? From whence comes the food for so many? How many rivers shall needs be diverted or dammed to provide for such a population? Where can such Progress end other than humanities complete reliance apon technology simply to survive? If we continue to blindly seek change for the sake of change we shall all become like as kylemcBitch, unable to breathe ... or even survive .. without a cocoon of clockwork and other mechanisms to protect us (as this space station protects us from the appetites of the void) from the polluted toxic morass we make of our once beatific Earth. The time to strike a blow against a clockwork fate, to raise a beacon to truth and self determinism, is nigh .... and can not be stopped. Your chance to delay us has come and gone, the fates have woven the outcome the world most needs. Pray join us in exaltation as this new sun brings light to the darkness and sweeps away the black machinations of those who would enslave their fellow man beneath the banner of Progress. HMSS ERECTOR ..... IGNITE!" With these words eightysix pressed down apon the plunger handed him by skainsmate and all was made light. The Luddites Win |

I was the last son of martha. We had a google group but I never joined it and then it all just seemed too late. Can I just say right now, Kyle, you are utterly crap. You could have won if you shut the fuck up but you just handed the game to the luddites through being shit. I picked skainsmate a while ago as a luddite too. Anybody listen? No. GG luddites, you sat back and let stupidity rule |

Kyle had his reasons, and he actually came very close to winning last "night", The Luddites played a good game without overplaying their hand ... their policy of "letting stupidity rule" was a winner and deserves to be studied by anyone seeking a deeper understanding of these games and available strategies. There are many ways to play each role ... just as there are many openings and strategies in chess ... I dare say that many of the more experienced players are chomping at the bit for the chance to be an investigator in a game as there are obvious strategies of playing that character which have not been attempted on SE yet... I know I am. All in all it was a good game, though some could have been a tad more pro-active. These games are kind of like FPS games in that trying too hard to stay alive can get you killed. |

Sorry, Kyle. I had to lie to you to figure who you'd be helping us kill that night. If we had killed the same person, that would have been messy. Shiney spaced by yourself was a stroke of luck, though, but it didn't look like you suspected either me or skainsmate, and before the protector died, I had to make very precise plans to ensure you didn't win. |

Yeah, by the time Kyle declared himself a God I was enjoying this as a most beautiful train wreck for the innocents. And yet, the game started off in favor of the innocents. 3 Luddites 3 Sons of Martha 1 serial killer 1 vigilante 7 innocents I find it interesting that in both the short games I have hosted the mafia has won ... I suspect that it has something to do with my hands off approach as most people might find themselves accidentally (subconsciously) pulling for the "good guys" ... I'm not disparaging other GM's just sharing a thought I have had about this type of game. Take anything I say on the subject with a grain of salt as GM objectivity is a big issue with me as can be seen in Sensible Androids. |
