Google Hacked

quote [ Looks like we are having a Google outage - apparently someone has hijacked their Domain, and something called SoGoSearch is showing up instead. GMail was down as well. Google ads are not being served up as well. Am I the only one, or did you guys feel the webquake as well? Man if this is a hack, then we now know nothing - not even god, I mean Google is safe! ]

the end is near! the end is near! repent for ye pr0n!!!

I won't downmod, but a DNS glitch at Google just doesn't stir my passions the way it used to.

..it especially doesn't qualify as being "hacked".

If it really was a DNS glitch. If they really had had their DNS hacked, then I doubt the first announcement they made about it would be "yes, we were hacked". I imagine they'd come out with a vague story that doesn't incite interest first, then maybe later give the real story, once their PR people have worked out the careful wording properly.

true...dns glitch may not explain the sogosearch.com homepage

are you sure? It's plausable* that in the absence of a resolving www.google.com, the browser would go to www.google.com.net instead (presumably after trying www.google.com.com, which (IIRC) isn't allowed to be registered).

*but I can't be arsed testing it.
