Found this as I was Googling for compulsive cross-hatching artists.
Oddly enough, I didn’t get a hit on Crumb, but this article [ http://www.farfilm.com/peggy/articles/graphiclife.htm ] has a nice quote: It’s really hard for me not to fill up every space with crosshatching.
[by f00m@nB@r@5:22amGMT] I like to doodle with a gel pen, and I cross-hatch compulsively: I’ve liked the technique since I saw an artist do it on TV when I was a tyke. It seemed like magic to see the drawing come to life as he hatched it in. |
