The best part was that Comedy Central actually then examined the demographics of the two shows, and showed that TDS watchers were on average signifigantly more educated than O'Reilly's mouthbreathers.

I used to love John Stewart untill this electrion for the same reason. He has turned a comedy show that made fun of everyone equally into a Left spun 30 minute campaign commercial.

You couldn't be more wrong. If the republicans were willing to allow anyone from their side to go on the show, Stewart and company would give them equal air time. I have been quite pleased at the amount of equal, bi-partisan ribbing the Daily Show has given to each candidate. If Bush knew what was good for him, he'd book an appearance tomorrow. But since he's going to win anyway, I guess it's a "why bother" situation.

reading this, i have to give mr.stewart credit for not getting angry or rising to the bait in anyway. OReilly kept trying to goad him with these not so subtle insults and such, and he just let it go and answered his questions reasonably.

if anyone knows where i can find a link to this episode of the factor, i'd be very appreciative. i'm curious to see if a couple of ORielly's comments were said as a joke, or if he was being serious.

Jon is very good about not taking any bait and keeping perspective. I watched his interview with one of the senior Bush campaign managers (last week?) on TDS, and although he obviously is not a huge Bush fan, he's always careful not to step too hard on any toes, and giving his guest a chance to explain him/herself. It's great that he didn't get pissed off at O'Reilly and just sort of laughed off any of the comments that could really have made any sane person just a wee bit angry.

That said, he should have kicked O'Reilly in the fucking head... but that's just my personal opinion. That man is one of the biggest ass-hats in the universe.

O'Reilly seemed jealous that Kerry went on the Daily Show instead of the O'Reilly Factor, and just pretty much jealous of The Daily Show in general. Hence the degrading of Kerry going on The Daily Show, calling the viewers of The Daily Show stoned slackers, and the like. O'Reilly must have been really pissed off too when Stewart pretty much danced around O'Reilly through the whole interview, pissing O'Reilly off by not getting pissed off and answering baited questions without biting, and on O'Reilly's own territory.

O'Reilly is going to get pwned on The Daily Show. Stewart will be able to refute every comment that O'Reilly made on his own terms, with a laughing audience on his side. Maybe in the back room, Stewart should add some whipped cream with the candy bars and the like, because O'Reilly is going to be served humble pie

Oreilly will do just fine if he is honest and polite. But ofcourse, he can't pull that off.

I've seen republicans on the show do just fine. I've also seen people get completely schooled. One guy, the RNC head of the rapid response team got totally punked and didn't even realize it. Stewart played dumb and asked where he got the stats that said Kerry and edwards were the 2nd and 4th most liberal people. The guy kept bullshitting and bullshitting, and then after stewart seemingly let him get away with not answering the question, as a lead in to a seperate question, Stewart answered his own question with the actual answer, the one the guy wouldn't produce. He acknowledged the answer and didn't even realize how stupid he looked.

McCain never has any trouble, not because he's left of extreme right, but because he isn't full of shit. Stewart doesn't go easy on him, but McCain isn't lying and so he can't get caught in his own lie the way others do.

I only wish Stewart were a little tougher on his liberal guests, that's the only place conservatives can actually argue.

Last night I watched "Outfoxed", a documentary about the Fox News Channel & Rupert Murdoch. They devoted a chunk to O'Reilly (hereafter referred to as "the fuckhead"), so the first thing I noticed about this was the fact that the fuckhead didn't tell John to shut-up, nor did he cut his mike. I guess there's something to that self-depricating humour...

P.S. I highly recommend watching "Outfoxed" to all. Especially all those people who keep shouting "PARTISAN" at the drop of a hat. I got it from Suprnova. It's under Movies, in the Documentary section...
