This sadly is something out of matts control, if he were to place restrictions on everyone then the point of this website would be lost, however since these restrictions are not being enforced people are abusing this system. Much to the annoyance to the many users here who just visit to click on the decent links and read the intelligent (sometimes retarded) comments now and again. As i've highlighted in my post title, this place is just turning into a chatroom with the same users commenting over and over again so posts are now receiving an insane number of comments.

Go back and re-read your comment as if you're a totally new viewer who didn't author it. Does it look like sarcasm to you? No? I didn't think so. When you are talking to people through a typed medium (especially people that you don't know) you have to be overwhelmingly sarcastic to get any semblance of sarcasm across to someone. Remember, we can't hear the timbre of your voice, nor can we see your facial expressions. Good rule of thumb: When you're trying to be sarcastic, go amazingly overboard. Or, you can use the old tradition of using sarcasm tag lines. Either way it works better. Don't assume that your audience is inside your head. |

My impression has always been it's a place where people can share information that they find funny / interesting / stiffy inducing / aesthetically interesting.
